VERY strange timing

plugged up my brothers OBDII reader that has a live feed mode. it read that at 40MPH in 3rd gear at 2900RPMs my timing is advanced 39 degrees!! this is not normal is it?

39° during cruise sounds about right.

low RPMs yo will have a lot of timing... if you look at his logs once he hits full boost and at tq peak he is around 6 degrees of timing.

Here's what a timing map looks like (not stock). Low loads yield a lot of timing, and it's actually higher RPMs that yield more timing (because the piston is moving faster, you have to start combustion earlier for an efficient burn).

Quick question... What is supposely normal, just logged my car and It was anywhere between 4-12.

It depends on RPM and load (look at the graph above) and tune and fuel octane.

If you're just cruising downhill, 40 is normal. On flat surface, maybe 30-40. If you're cruising uphill, maybe 25-30. If you're at WOT and 7000rpm, anywhere between 8 and 15 depending on fuel and boost levels..

i'll try to up load the spreadsheat, 2nd to 3rd gear pull(couldn't go to fast where i did this) from 3k to 6k.
