You don;t have to stop driving it but I would definitely be making plans to get 'er done. I had to change one on a car that had 65K but it was the waterpump, not the timing belt. The waterpump will more than likely go before the belt and you'll know when that happens and it won't let you drive your car, not far at least.

You are correct. The latest version of the 2.0T uses a timing chain instead of a timing belt.

    Copied from an Edmunds review:

    Under the Hood
The redesigned A4 is offered with two engines and a choice of front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD), which Audi calls quattro. While the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that Audi offered in 2008 was powerful and fuel-efficient, Audi has redesigned it for 2009. This version uses a timing chain instead of a timing belt and is both more powerful and more fuel-efficient. It produces 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, compared with the 2008 version’s 200 ponies and 207 lb-ft of torque. FWD versions come with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), while quattro models use a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic with Audi’s Tiptronic manual shift capability. Environmental Protection Agency fuel-economy ratings are 23/30 mpg (city/hwy) for the FWD sedan with the CVT, 22/30 for the quattro sedan with the manual, and 21/27 for the sedan or wagon with the automatic

To the OP, mine went kablooey @ 71k miles on the highway. Drive until you see a red oil light on the dash come up and at that point, no matter where you are, STOP. Well, if you're real close you might be able to nurse it home, as the warning will come up and go away, then become more persistent as failure becomes iminent.

From the replies above you can see it's all dependent on an individual cars history so the interval can be a bit broad. Buy the TB kit from blauparts.com (cheapest and most complete) and when it arrives allocate the next weekend to DIY. After that you're looking at a replacement every 70k miles. I do mine at 100k km intervals just to be safe.
