    98 1.8t quattro rought idle - stalls

doubt it's a vacuum leak, sprayed everything with ether and no rev change. finally got a code for "MAF flow too low" I already cleaned it, is there anything else I'm missing?
it will stall everytime I drive it, but only once cold or hot doesnt matter. neither does rough or gentle driving. I initially thought a crack being opened with the engine flexing.
Heres a video I made last night. according to the measuring blocks it's running lean and when you blip the throttle it chokes up for a second and then revs

BTW i bought it "not running", so I dont know anything about the past. although it started on the first try when i cranked it, first thing was the timing belt, now I need to fix this. gf needs a car

if it matters it's a tiptronic

it does sound like the maf especially with that code. although it might be a clogged fuel filter as well. If you brought it not going then there are probably a lot of things wrong with it so its hard to know if the problems are related or different.

I cleaned the Map sensor and it got worse. Surprisingly before changing the TB it ran fine even with a PCV house completely deterioration.

Currently it idles fine. Nothing like the video on YouTube. But what it does now is stutter when putting it into gear.

Mine did exactly this for awhile. Cleaned the MAF, changed the plugs and did a few throttle body adaptions and now its fine.
Also as mentioned above, replace the fuel filter. Wont hurt to even if it doesn't solve the problem.

If it got worse when you cleaned the maf maybe its a connection or the wires are corroding

I vote for a bad MAF. Symptoms are condusive to that type of failure.
