I have long been a proponent of the "good slotted rotors, good fluid, and solid pads are all the BBK you need" theory, until tonight. I decided I wanted to fill my wheels a little better with some bigger brakes, so I bought some B6 S4 fronts. Big thanks to Minh (Manguyen) for the hook up on the calipers/carriers/lines! (Be sure to hit him up if you need ANY OEM parts, he will hook you up!) I blocked a weekend off to get the calipers/carriers clean and painted. I used VHT's Red Caliper Paint for my application, and am very pleased with the results thus far. Applied easily, and looks great. I will divulge my source for my rotors at a later date after more testing . Anyway, everything turned out great and they look OH so good behind the Daytonas, finally. On to the story behind my thread title. As I said before, i was always against wasting money on a BBK for a DD, until tonight. On my way home from picking up my little brother from the airport at 11:00 pm, coming around a somewhat sharp corner and BOOM! A clearly inebriated, and utterly irresponsible doe leading her 2 young fawn across the street! (Unforgivable) I was only a couple hundred feet from the deer when I saw them and had little time to react. But to my surprise (keep in mind i've been running "good" stock brakes with all supporting goodies mentioned above) before I even had time to scream "Oh shit!" (Just had my Oetty repaired from recent animal incident), my face was planted cleanly into my steering wheel from the unexpected bite of these, inexpensive, German engineered, single piston calipers! I stopped WELL before i was even close to hitting the intoxicated, clearly unfit mother or her babies. I am now a firm believer in BBKs and will forever run a BBK on any vehicle I own from here on. Sorry for the long "feedback" thread, but I really do feel this is quite possibly the best $500 i've ever spent on my car. (and i've wasted quite a bit on it) Thanks for the click/read.
