does this apply for a rs4 reps as well? I know VMR makes 2 settings which is et38 and et45..

So are you saying the et38 18x8 fits better on stock b7 s4? no rubs or anything like that?

et45 is for such smaller cars like the a3 or gti
et38 will sit 7mm farther out than the et45 so yes itll fit, without rubbing, just make sure you dont get such chunky tires
i have rotiform blq's on my car 19x8.5 et35 which is pretty aggressive for a a3 and i dont rub all that much, but im also pretty low
so in other words youll be fine with et38 on 18"

Why would you put snow-tires on brand-new wheels, for the winter..?

Buy new wheels (you should go 19", ET35 or 38) with summer tires, and put winter tires on your current (I assume) stock wheels.

i meant chunky in the sense of if you were to lower the car, lets say an inch you might get some rubbing with fat tires, but if your on stock suspension youll be fine
