    OBX exhaust install review

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
The long awaited review on the ebay based company OBX. This whole exhaust, which included a 2.75" downpipe to a 2.5" y pipe with small resonators and finishing off with impressive 4" exhaust tips. All stainless steel. I managed to buy everything for 530$ shipped, was listed at 450$ with 100$ shipping but i put a best offer in for 430$ and was excepted.

^^My car is dirty and you can deff see the scratches of when some old man rearended me, i got a 700$ check from his insurance company and decided I had better things to spend that many on than a small scratch :P

Overall the fitment was perfect, I didn't even have to adjust anything to get the tips the way I wanted them, all the bolts lined up perfectly, was very impressed with the fitment specially since it is an ebay exhaust.

Now i used a pretty old digital camera and the quality isn't awesome, and I also have a test pipe installed as well. Now its not as loud as I'd like it to be to tell you the truth, but the upgrade is VERY noticable and I do really like how it sounds. Its got a nice deep tone to it and its not very loud at all in the cabin. Sounds great when you step on it, I would get a driveby sound clip but I'm pretty lazy at the moment so I may update this tom with another sound clip depending on how many people want it. If you guys want any more pictures or anything just let me know and I'll try to get them soon or answer any questions that you guys have.

OVERALL: Very happy with this upgrade, I deff notice a difference in horsepower, now nothing ridiculous but deff a small diff. For 530$ shipped, this is probly one of the best upgrades I've done to my car, and i think the tips look aggressive as hell :).

First thanks for taking time making that review.

The exhaust sound pretty quiet to me (specially with a test pipe) but might get louder overtime. The only thing I am not sure to like it that the tips stick out too much of the rear bumper.

I would really appreciate if you could take time do to a drive by video but for best results you should wait a week or two.

Are they straight pipe muffers (no chambers)?

not shabby. I'm glad its not loud. do you think you can adjust it so the tips dont stick out that far? or is that pretty much what you get. Quality definitely looks good. Id like to know about the muffler type too. Thanks for the review btw.

I actually have noticed the sound has increased quite a bit since yesterday and I'm hoping the sound will increase more over the next week or 2, so I will probly do a drive by like you said next week or the week after. And yes I can adjust the tips so that they dont stick out as much, its pretty easy to tell u the truth. And I do agree, the more I look at it, i think i will bring the tips back a little. I am not sure what mufflers they are, I may email them and ask out of pure curiosity. I not exactly sure what you mean by straight pipe mufflers/no chambers so if you could elaborate I may be able to help you.

awesome but ill try to check to see if its straight or chambered later this week when i do some tweaking under there. And the exhaust is deff getting louder the more and more I break it in, so I may do another exhaust clip in 2 weeks or so like i said in the post above. I'm falling more and more in love with it, specially with the test pipe cuz when i let off the gas, you get that studdering sound, not exactly sure how to explain it but if u've ever ran without a cat, you'll know what im talking about and i love that sound to death lol.

yaa its a gurgle sound but real deep like. And no, not more that what i had before, but i have a k&n air filter so the turbo is pretty damn loud as it is. And im not 100% sure what your referring to as turbo wine, is that when its spooling? or winding down?

Cheaper because it does not come with a downpipe for AT I believe.

I can't wait to hear the sound clip in two weeks from now when the exhaust will be breaked-in. Sound like it will be a nice exhaust upgrade for the price!

just cut the resonators out! and replace with piping. Exhaust shop should be able to do it for $100, and then you will have a louder sounding exhaust

Anyone can install exhaust with some basic tools, but not everyone has the ability let alone the tools to cut and weld exhaust. The only way you're going to get those tips to come in an inch is if you remove some of the exhaust.

A simple cutoff wheel/dremel/hacksaw/sawzall would make quick work of shortening exhaust up front where the DP meets the rest of the exhaust. Its a slip fit. No welding needed.

Congrats! The AZ community should thank you for taking one for the team and buying up some new products from Ebay. Some are win, some are lose. It seems as though you win! I know with my exhaust, I took a drive by video and it is definately much louder now than when I took the video the same weekend as I installed my exhaust. It'll grow on you.

Yeah, that isn't how you would want to go about shortening the tips, since your hangers will be all jacked up.

because its a slip fit, i can just slip the exhaust a little farther at either section to bring the tips back, so it wont be hard to adjust the tips.

I can deff notice a diff in performance, not a huge hp increase but i think it just drives much better because of my revo stage 2 tune is tuned for an aftermarket exhaust. The drive is just more smooth, and im almost positive im getting better gas mileage, ill know how much better gas mileage once i run outta this tank. I'd really like to get dyno's just to see what I'm running for numbers but i dont have any near me, nor do i feel like spending 70$ or more just out of curiosity.

The sound too has increased quite a bit, I'm really loving the sound now. I was pretty disappointed with the way it sounded immediately after the install but i'm loving it now. I'll post another sound clip next week probly just to make sure its fully broken in and at the sound is at it's peak.

I'm also absolutely in love with the gurgle sound I get from the test pipe with the exhaust. I never heard that sound before the exhaust but now that theres more flow, that gurgle is very apparent when letting off the gas.

Do you feel that the exhaust is louder or just deeper than your previous setup?
