What do you mean by cut? Why would you cut the k line? The k line is what communicates with the ECU. Are you trying to use VAG-com?

Two things usually short the kline, one is an aftermarket deck, and the other is the abs module, try disconnecting it and your communication should return.

how old is the vag com? some older ones if you have voltage on teh k line i think they can burn out, try it on another car to see if it works still.

whenever a radio wont let me scan the car i just unplug it and thats that. i dont know why this happens with some radios as ive installed several units in vw/audi cars and this has never happened. However some cars just wont communicate with my vag so i usually can get it to work by wiggeling the connenctor for the scan tool and that gets it to work. on rare occasions there is a mystery wiring gift left for me to find by a previous idiot. since it seems like you really must get this problem solved i suggest taking it to a shop since it takes a trained eye to see what kind of A+ wiring that may have been done under the dash and how to fix it.

Are you trying to use VAG-com? What makes you sure it is the k line? Are you sure the port and everything else is set up correctly? Does it work on another vehicle?

yea taking it to a shops probably going to be my demise lol just kinda thought i would have been able to fix it myself with so much info here on the fourms. and i used both vag com and generic reader and i pulled down the kick panel and disconnected the obd2 to make sure it was a good connection

It happens because SOME wiring adapters are incorrectly wired or the wrong one is being used for the specific car in question. Just because it plugs into the stock harness and new/old h/u, it doesn't mean it is correctly wired.
