    This is odd..head lights.

I attempted a search but couldn't come up with the good search phase (didn't try too hard though)..

Has anyone noticed the right headlight flashing once after shutting a door (no locking of the door) on their car? Say 10-20 seconds after door closure. I was in the garage at the workbench and I noticed my passenger door was open so I went over and closed it. Proceeded back to the bench and started to putz around. As I was facing my tool box, with the right headlight in my peripheral, the headlight flashed once. I noticed this one time before and really don't know why it happens (disclaimer: I wasn't drinking yet).

Oh, I didn't lock the car. Anyone have an idea?

    06 A4 Q/tip; regular bulb headlights.

The flashing is the way for the ballasts to get rid of excess xenon gas out of the bulb. It's normal, especially if you've had the headlights on for a while and shut off the car.

Its the cars way of burning off excess xenon gas from the bulb. Happens on all OEM bi-xenon units, whether its Audi, Lexus, Merc, etc.

Can you tell me where this xenon gas escapes in the sealed glass capsule?
OP, it's most likely a failing bulb or ballast.

yeah an enclose bulb shouldn't have excess anything. Either its about to go out or there's a disconnection somewhere, check all the plugs and see if its all tight.

OK, I found out why mine is doing it, but it will noyt help you unless you have a cabrio.

I have installed the confort module to enable me to open and close the top via remote, when this feature is used it flashes once with the headlight to let you know that it is active e.g. signal recieved and it will start teh opening or closing procedure.
