Ok, I have been neglecting my headliner and now i think it is time to get it fixed. Is there a favorite fabric out there that everyone uses. I would like to have it done before it gets any worse.

My shop said around 300 installed w/ cloth. good price?

i'm in the same dilemma...the only thing ive come across from searching is people putting in the alcantara headliner...nuthin on someone actually redoing it themselves...i wanna redo my pillars and headliner and i'm thinking about using unisuede instead of actually spending the money on alcantara fabric which can go for 100 bucks a square yard...

I am afraid of doing the headliner myself cause it is big an awkward in the avant and do not feel like replacing the dome lights and what not as well.

So it sounds like suede is the way to go then?

yea for me i'm most likely gonna go with using microsuede or sumthin of that nature...the prices that i'm getting quoted for alcantara is insane....

I am sure they are. Suede might be really nice looking. Should be able to find something that matches the leather seats

Just do everything BUT the visors. Have those done at an apolstrophy (sp) shop, and do the rest yourself.
2000 A6 2.7MT - currently gutted, a few parts left, PM me if you need anything.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but good material is expensive.

I really need to take a week or so off this winter and get all my projects on the car done.

That is what I am planning on. Doing sensor and belts and some exhaust work. Was just thinking about putting a headliner on that list of things to do.

I would think that would still be pricey for most people and I would doubt that any company will give us a slamming deal on it. But i am a hater, so try it. worth a shot and see what happens.

sure you want to do the steering wheel? ive heard some horror stories of how worn the wheel gets when done in alcantara. the oils from your hands on it everyday, plus just the normal wear and tear, really gets at it. im sure it would look hot though with the crazy wood trim youve got going on!

^ My friend did his S4 wheel in blue and it looks good but i can only imagine the wear on it. My leather is getting worn out and that is quite tough.

-never thought about the wear on the wheel but now i am. Thanks for that. I think I am going to stick w/ the leather for a long time unless something really good comes along i just cant pass up

maybe do the center section instead of around the wheel. im going to do the center of mine in carbon fiber. i think Kievskiy has done this. i remember seeing a pic of it somewhere on an s4 wheel and i believe it was andrey's

That sounds interesting. I think wood grain could work as a wrap or cover on the center as well if done right to match the dash.

A guy w/ a MkIII around here has a wood grain racing wheel and shift knob from momo. It looks bad ass.

do you have the 4 spoke MFSW?

i would think it would be the same. the stuff i got was pretty thin. i would think it would leave enough room between the airbag section of the wheel and the controls
