Are new shocks needed for H&R OE Springs?

Was thinking of going with H&R OE springs for my base A5 (No sport/s-line package)...question is would stock shocks be ok or would it be a must to go with aftermarket shocks? I already did a search but it never been specific for an A5. What are you guys experiences so far with a drop or opinions?

I've had no issues with mine, just had them put on 3 weeks ago. The ride is pretty close to stock.

Technically new shocks are recommended but I know tons of people who stuck with their stock shocks, and they have had no problems.

You shouldn't need new ones. HR OE gives a very mild drop, and there have been no reports on shocks blowing because of it. Yet. And it's unlikely.

I've been on their sport springs for a few mths no with no issues. The factory bump stop protects the shocks from bottoming out.
That said - from a handling perspective I think stiffer shocks would be a better match to the stiffer springs. I feel like now there are certain times when the springs are moving quicker than the shocks can dampen, and it doesn't feel quite right. Springs and shocks "should" always be matched...
