Total dissapointment in Audi products today , CEL light started flashing last week Had it VAG codes were p0300,p0305 ,p0305 missfires.called Audi care because just had coilpacks done under recal the end of may ,also had an oil change done then .audi suggested sparkplug change put in new plugs didnot correct the CEL took it to the dealer yesterday and was told cyl 5,6 misfiring ,compresion on cyl test 85 to 90 psi / leak down test 45% and scoring on cyl walls . How could a high performance car that I have always taken care of fail so badly without any warning and that the Audi tech can't explain , by the way 65000 miles ,and no extended waranty , great product

Sounds like an oiling issue to me. Its not just Audi man. Cars fail at 5000 miles for the same exact reason. If you're willing to own an Audi-or BMW or Merc, you better be willing to pay for an extended warranty though. A new S4 engine won't be cheap.

previous owner could have abused it though (not letting it properly warm up prior to getting on it )/not broken it in correctly. according to many audi techs, scored cylinder walls can be caused by improper engine break in.

to add, mine was a super clean 05 car i purchased CPO through the dealer with all the service done at that dealer. at around 60k, car developed high oil consumption. engine was replaced by CPO due to scored cylinder walls.

I know what you mean! I bought an Audi, not expecting to have much hassle. I've replaced the valve cover gaskets, A/C compressor, flywheel, slave cylinder, window motor, moonroof switch, and now the starter is going out. My warranty is up, and I'm taking a gamble not having one. I'm thinking I will need to purchase another one if I'm going to keep it. My friends keep ragging on me, b/c my car is always in the shop.

I think the biggest problem is 10K oil change cycle and previous owners ragging the shit out of the car at the same time.

I think that should read: "What bothers me more is that they are more concerned about their car than their education." (Just to be cheeky here).

My 2005.5 S4, which I bought at 64K miles in July from a crooked used car dealer and drove back home to NH (Imports Limited in St Louis), also had cylinder wall scoring. It was cylinder #5 and compression was down to 50psi and borascope showed scoring in that cylinder. I also got the CEL and plug was fouled with oil. I am right in the middle of replacing the engine now myself. It's honestly not that bad to do it yourself. IRA Audi in Peabody quoted me about 24K (not a typo!) to replace the engine... I bought a used engine from Shokan for 4500 with 58K on it. They have a 6mo warranty. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't see similar problems with the replacement engine. I know I shouldn't say it, but these engines scare me. It's likely we are only seeing a very small percentage of the total production fail like this, but I just sold my 1987 Porsche 951 and the engine had 230K on it and was still running strong. Best of luck, and if you need help let me know. I used Joey's engine pull DIY from the 'other' site.
