Heater Core bypass/pipe leading to HC replacement

So I went to flush my heater core the other day when I removed one of the hoses from the pipes that leads to the heater core to discover that the pipe had degraded over time. After I flushed it I hoped to clamp it high enough up the pipe that it wouldn't leak but that didn't work. How would you guys go about bypassing it/plugging it until I can replace the pipe. Also do you know what part that is called?

Here's a basic pic from the internet with some of my MS paint skills to show where it has broken:

I'll take an actual picture in the morning, sorry about the crap one for now.

What would you use to connect the two?
I'll probably just run down to my hardware store in the morning and figure it out but I figured I should see what everyone thinks before I go do that and spend money. Sorry for seeming like a noob.

Connect the two hoses you removed from those two pipes together, that will bypass the heater core. You will have no heat, but you will not leak/overheat.

Those metal pipes are your heater core. Replace that and you are good to go.
