I was looking to get a louder turbo and DV sound. Looking at a Forge 007 DV (people say they're quite loud), and a suggestion for air intake upgrades if needed? I have searched, heard either cone or drop-in panel can damage MAF. Can't really find anything that says if the panel is just as loud as a cone filter. So I was wondering how to make it louder in any possible ways and what is the best options from personal experience if any have it. Thanks everyone

PS- Car is all stock otherwise except for clutch.

No need to spend all that money for sound. If you want a loud DV sound go to autozone buy a cone filter and stick it on the end of your maf. You will be surprised how loud the stock DV is.

I'm also prepping for a BT build so ill need an upgraded DV eventually. Is a panel filter just as loud as a cone filter?

Do you have a cone filter? If so, how do you like it the noise with everything and have you had any problems with it with your MAF or anything? Thanks

Just get a Forge Splitter valve. They sound cool, but not obnoxious and if you don't like it you can cap it off and make it just a DV again. The best of both worlds. If you have a 2000+, make sure you bypass the N249 as it will cause issues with the atmospheric nature of the valve, but other than that it works great.

I heard they were more of a hassle to install though? The splitters. I also have a '98. By the way, been driving the new FX300 w/ steel LWFW around. Amazing clutch! everything you said it would be

Nope, they are just fine to install, nothing different at all. That said, I've only seen them installed in the lower DV position. Early 1.8T's had the DV in the TIP instead of the charge pipe. I don't know if the 98 has that or not, or if that would be a problem. The splitter is only very slightly larger in 1 dimension than a normal valve, and it has the horn thingy sticking out the side.

Not a problem at all on my brother's 2000 1.8T. He loves it. It makes the blow-off noise when he revs it in the parking lot. It is loud enough to enjoy with the windows down and quiet enough to ignore with the windows up. Just right.

Sounds good. I'll have to ask about it with the '98. Thanks for the info

I'm running a K&N cone right on the end of the MAF with a Forge splitter and a test pipe w/ 2.5 SS exhaust, quite loud, sounds phenomenal. I get compliments often

is a test pipe different from a downpipe? i'm a newb. also, did you need a u-bend pipe and heat shield with the cone filter? Thank you

I had to run a u-bend pipe with my cone filter and I reused the stock heatshield with some wire holding it in place. I can't comment on the DV sound because I was running an HKS SSQV blow off - hella loud! haha

(don't worry, now I have the stock airbox w/ a K&N filter and a Forge 007. growing up FTW!)

I have the cone filter, upgraded intake track, upgraded induction hose with up graded turbo with the 007 DV....I wouldn't say it's loud.

I though you need a DV and not a BOV due to metering issues. Is there a way I can run a BOV on a 2001 A4?

they have kits that allow you to do that, but DONT waste your money, there will be NO benifit, trust me and everyone else, get a foge 007p and that will sound amazing with a open filter, you do not need any more noise than that
