B8 newb, buying a 2011 S4, need to make some decisions, help please

Hey guys, Im new to the B8 section, usually hang around the B5 S4 section. The car I am looking at doesnt have the B&O sound but I really love my music. Is the B&O really worth looking for another car? Can the stock stereo be upgraded within reason (speakers, light tiny woofers) or would that require way to much wiring and bullshit on a new car? Thanks guys

In B6 the Bose sucked but in B8 the B&O is awesome.

The B & O is a must. For the money one of the best factory stereos on the market.

I love the B&O... if you are an audiophile you will love it too! I am coming from the stock audio system in the E46, so compared to that I feel like I am at a live concert every time I drive!

I am traveling right now and stuck in a Ford Fusion. The sound system isn't bad but it really makes me appreciate my B&O system in my S5. Definitely keep looking for an S4 with a B&O system.

Before buying i listened to both b and o and stock in an A4 (dealer had no S4s on the lot). I have to admit for a stock system.... It's very good. But the b&o system blew it out of the water. Some complain of lack of bass. While its not extremely deep it is extremely precise and punchy. I personally prefer it that way. Others have added an aftermarket sub with great success. For the price it's definitely worth it and if you love your music and your a bit of an audiophile it is a must.

I would agree with some of the things that have been said. I have a stock sound system in my Q5 and a B&O in my S4. I have to say that there is a big difference in clarity. At low volumes, they sound almost identical and the sub for the stock has a bit more depth (and at least in the Q5 you can adjust the bass and sub whereas in the S4 its just bass). I have to say though that I rarely listen to music softly and I notice a major difference in the B&O at high volumes. I had the bose system in my b7 and the mercedes in my garage has the logic7 system and the B&O outperforms by A TON! If you can find the car with the system, its worth it.

I think the stock system is great, I am an audiophile and still enjoy it. I also have tweaked the settings and only listen to high quality flac or similar music. I think the way you set it up has just as much to do about the initial quality of the system.

I plan on upgrading the sub in the trunk, but I do not ever say to myself, "I wish this system was better". The sub is plenty good for my technical/progressive music, but sometimes I like to bump to some rap - therefor the sub.

I've got the standard audio package and it sounds great. The dealer told me the system is actually Alpine audio. B&O is a huge name too but i don't think it should be a deal breaker

Nice thing about ordering a car is you can get it the way you want. For me, B&O would be a waste of money, hell I listen to talk radio most of the time. I didn't even mind the crappy Bose in the B7s and the B8 stocker system is way better that. Happy I kept my sheckles to buy an APR Tune :-)

It depends on your preferences, but if music and audio quality is important to you and you might consider an
audio after market setup, then get the B&O. Any decent after market setup will cost more than the B&O, since these automotive
stereo systems are now so integrated.

I'm a huge audiophile - I was told you couldn't get the B/O upgrade in Canada without the navigation (which I didn't want), although I think I probably misunderstood. Anyways, the regular base stereo is excellent. Needs a subwoofer but that's it.

    ummmm...HELLO!!!

B&O - as in Bang & Olufsen - as in...use to be made solely for the king and queen of Denmark!

do some research, and you'll find it would be stupid not to get the B&O system...especially since it doesn't cost that much either. Word

As stated, it depends on how much of an audiophile that you are.

The B&O was a skip for me because I really don't listen to music all that much. Besides, when I played around with the stock unit in a car sitting on the lot it sounded much better than the Bose in my B6 anyway.
