    My Oil Problem thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Yet another oil consumption thread!
So 300 miles after adding my last quart of oil, I'm in need of adding another quart.. Yes I did search, found a thread on B6/B7 S4/RS4 section only.. Anyways, last time I added a quart was after 600 miles and so far it has only been getting worse and worse. I only put 93 octane gas in, I haven't driven hard, gone under WOT since the last quart. Always let it idle for a minute before driving, in the mornings usually longer, and before turning the car off I let it idle as well. Taking it to the stealership today hopefully, if not tomorrow. Any ideas on what the F is going on here? Will post pack as soon as I take it in/hear from the dealership. TIA

***EDIT/UPDATE*** Cars going in Monday, let my mother call to handle this one, since the passed 3 times jack s*** has been done about it. I might be coming home with a different A4 apparently.
****--Oct 12th Update-******-Was told by the dealership to check my oil here and there, have had it it back for a a couple weeks now and the problem seems to still be occurring.. It's going back in tomorrow, they're going to check it out and see what is going on this time.. IMO They will replace the piston rings this time around, since they've already replaced the PCV/valve cover.. Lol..
    ************************************************** ************************************************** ********-

2nd update.. So instead of waiting until Monday to take it in, Audi opted to send a flat bed in free of charge and have it taken in, Now begins the waiting..

Lemon-Law? I've taken it in 3 times before this and, as stated above, only gets worse =// I wouldn't be worried so much if it was like it used to be.. 1qt/1000mi, but since it has been only getting worse, something is clicking in my head saying there's a bigger problem here. I'm no mechanic, but this shouldn't be happening as far as I know heh. I hate mysteries >< Will post back ASAP with results hopefully

Car went in last night, it was taken apart first thing this morning ^^
They wanted to put the stock airbox on because they thought that the Carbonio was causing oil to be used quicker? Not sure if that makes sense to you guys, anyways should have an answer hopefully today, if not sometime this weekend for sure. It's good to know people ^^

First mistake is not putting in the stock box before it went in. They could fuvk u over for that. Whivh dealership are you going to, town audi or meadowlands audi? And the lemon law doesnt apply to u bc u bought your car used and unless the person before u has documented service cpo's about the same thing...lemon law will never apply. Keep me updated because my car burns a lot of oil too. If they fix it under warranty im going to bring my car in right after you

I recently read a post out here by an Audi tech who said that the baffles underneath the valve cover come loose or degrade allowing oil to pass through the PCV then into the turbo. It burns slow enough to not smoke, but fast enough to cause people to fill up quite a bit. He said that it is the main cause and the easiest fix.

Haha thank you deez, I think I saw you driving around Closter a couple weeks ago, AWE quad tip?? I know, it needs to be lowered soo bad.. Anyways, just heard from my mother saying that they are replacing the intake manifold/doing oil change. Free of charge. I could be wrong, not sure if she meant the intake manifold or meant something else but who knows.. I'll be back with more news hopefully soon.

Yes, please post back. It's generally bad baffles and or bad rings. I wonder if driving habits have something to do it.
Case in point: My car uses a little oil, about 2/3 of quart in 1400 miles when mostly commuting to work in stop-n-go traffic, not too bad I think. I changed the oil and filter just before Labor Day and then drove up to CT and back, about 400 miles of highway driving(70-90 mph) and as far as I could tell it didn't use a drop.??
Good luck with your fix, let us know.

Hey guys, got the car back today, well yesterday actually. Didn't get a chance to hop on AZ and let you guys know what they fixed, anyways on to what they fixed.. So last time I had it in they did replace the valve covers, and this time around they replaced the PCV... Got hooked up with 6 qt's of oil too.. The person I spoke with told me if the light comes on anytime soon, flatbed it in and again they will try to fix it. Lol. They also took off my Carbonio/034 Inlet Hose as well :( :( Car feels so.. slugish now.. Anyways, it was all fixed under warranty, which they gave back after realizing my intake wasn't causing the oil problems from the last few times.. Cars going back in monday to fix a sh** paint fix on the corner of my trunk ^^ Guess thats it, I'll let you guys know if the light pops up again, and when I take it in/what they fix etc etc..

PS - the option of a new engine is still in mind by audi apparently.. Doubt that will fix it though, he said there really is no known fix for this problem and Audi is yet to recognize it.

are they kidding? audi has a known issue with 2.0t and oil consumption. pcv/valvecover, then rings.

Were they going to perform the oil consumption test on your car? My dealer did Part I and I'll need to bring it back in after 630 miles, when they plan to replace the piston rings.

I just finished part two of the oil consumption test. I dropped car off in the morning and by 2:00 I got a call telling me they were going to replace the rings. I don't have the actual data from the test, but once I get it I will make sure I post it.

From what I could tell by looking at the dipstick, I burnt at least 3/4 quart in ~575 miles.

So they have had my car since the 12th of October I believe? Just went today to pick it up because they said they could find nothing wrong, after driving it 400 miles, and they also said they were supposed to fix some chipping paint/clear coat on the back of the car.. They didn't, so I had to leave it there until they fix it.. Maybe the PCV did "fix" the crazy oil problem? Idk. Sucks not having your car for this long..

damn leo, you are going through the ringer, and you seem pretty laid back about it i wish most people had your patience

hold strong, i would say after the 4th time being as rational as you've been you should ask them about the lemon law, i mean your dealership is trying, and it seems like nothing is working so the best case scenerio may just be to replace it
