Just made an offer on a used Allroad..... was it fair?

Garaged
Full service history (every 5K @ the dealer)
Full timing belt, water pump & seal job done at 97K
New front axles
One airbag replaced so far (owner keeps it at level 3 saying it keeps dirt out of the bags and makes them last longer)
No accidents or paint work ever
Interior is in excellent shape
Has a hidden tow hitch installed.
Needs new tires.

I offered $9,400

What do you think?

I think it is being its an 04 therefor the updated engine. The plus side is you get the full service history!! PLUS it's a 6SP!! I am jealous!!

Blue Book for the car in EXCELLENT CONDITION is only $9,460. Excellent condition applies only to about 5% of all used cars and probably only 1% of used cars with that many miles. Excellent condition also implies that there is a substantial amount of tread left on the tires, which this car does not have... So I think it's a fair offer, and hopefully he'll accept and I'll sell my A4 avant to pay back the loan. :)

Just for comparison I payed 11k for my '04 about 5 months ago w/ 90K mi. And it was also a 6sp.

My 01 with 125k and tiptronic is probably only worth 7k tops; but that one is newer, 6speed, and a few less miles.

I think it's a fair offer ** at minmum the owner should play ball.

He countered my offer asking for $10,200 as is with tires that will need replacing in about 3K miles.

I went back with $10,000 and hopefully he'll take it.
