2000 Audi A4 2.8 Symphony Radio Safe Mode Problem

    Hello all,

I have had an issue with my Audi Symphony radio. I had the clutch replaced on my audi unfortunately just one day before I moved to Oklahoma. The work was done in the SF Bay Area. The radio was in safe mode and there was no way to have the work done before I moved. I researched and learned a great deal about the Symphony radio. I figured out the radio code from my owners manual. I followed the directions exactly and the code did not work. It just flashed and stayed in safe mode. This was really annoying because I drove 24 hours without a radio. I tried to take out the fuse in the fuse box to see if that would reset anything. Nothing. I called the Audi USA to make sure I had the exact code. They gave me the same code I already had and it still didnt work. I let the radio stay on with the key in the ignition for several hours as one person suggested that the "chip took a long time to heat up." I also tried the one hour reset with the key in the ignition many times without it working. Even on my 24 hour drive, I tried it several times with the exact code and nothing... Does anybody know if there is possibly a different code? The radio was working fine until I had my clutch replaced. If anybody has any suggestions please help me. I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you

possible that radio was replaced before ? remove the radio and check serial # against the radio code card it should have serial number printed as well at the top, if they don't match there is your answer if they match then try it again if it doesn't work then get new radio ECS should still have them on sale for 50 bucks

    Thank you for your response.
    What is ESC?
Also to remove the radio, I would need four of those radio keys. Do you know where I get them from? Also if they don't match, is there anything I can do or would I just have to get a new radio?

    Thank you again.

EDIT: I think I figured out what ESC meant. http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-...terior/Stereo/

The only thing that will work is the code itself.

    Hey guys,

I finally got some keys and managed to look at the serial number and it was different than the one on the radio card. I called up Audi America and I gave them my serial number and they are suppose to respond me with a code but unfortunately, the person on the phone has to contact higher up people with the information. He is suppose to respond to me today, but strangely enough, somebody had the exact same problem he said and he couldn't give out the radio code key. Is there any way to get the radio code key with the serial number if this does not work? Vielen dank!
