    VMR Wheels - Quality Control

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have been hearing that some VMR wheels coming out recently are not great and that quality control is pretty bad? I heard from one tuner that wheels often needed 3oz of weight to balance them! Any experiences or comments on this?

I am considering VMR's or these Neuspeed RSe14 wheels, that are little more - does anyone have any on car pics?

    Quality Control on VMR:

I have my 3rd set of rims on my car from them, not from any damage or problems just because their wheels are great. I have had 19x8.5 V710 and 19x8.5 V701 and NOW V708 on my car.

I have not had 1 rim bend, crack, or anything bad happen to me while i had them on my car. These 3 rims all together drove about 20k miles all together.

Would i get another set of rims from them? Yes!

Don't listen to VMR's competitors but the people who buy their products.

I've had VMR708s on my car for 3+ years with no issues. They're great wheels, and an even greater value!

I will say that the initial quality is great and would definitely send a set back if they took that much weight to balance.

I should say however that I am getting rid of mine and will never buy another set due to the ease at which these things bend. In total there have been 2 sets of RS4 reps on my car (possible 9 total wheels, picked up a spare somewhere along the way):
-First set I sent 1 back due to peeling on the finish (no worries, replaced free). Over time I bent 2 of them to the point that I had terrible vibrations, a 3rd had a lip bend so I sold it as a spare to someone.
-So currently I have a set of 4 on the car that are replacements. I ordered new tires the other week...wheels needed re-balanced anyways as I had bad vibration between 70-80...first mount and balance...terrible vibration. Shop that mounted them re-balances with the manager and myself overseeing the process...3 of them are bent now (but balanced much better now than originally so it's drivable).

I always loved the look of them on my car (and I am an OEM+ kinda guy) so I kept going back but I can't help to think I am probably 2k in at this point on cast wheels. Thank god they have inventory problems or my order for V718s would've actually gone through earlier this year. I know you get what you pay for but with how little I drive and how careful I am about potholes etc I am pretty disappointed in the overall durability. My $.02.

This is interesting. The Neuspeed wheels are better made for sure using a method that even BBS is starting to adopt, so for the slight increase in price maybe they are a better option? It seems many people have been happy with VMR overall, but I was concerned when I heard "lately" the wheels seem to be lacking quality.

with any wheel, lack of care will be more prone to damaging the wheel.

you get a quality wheel for the price you pay.

My only complaint with my 18inch GM710's is that VMR doesn't offer an EXACT paint match touch up.......other then that mine have been fine on NY roads for 2 seasons now....they are my summer wheels.

VMR do offer touch up paint but its not EXACT which is so strange to me.
