I consider it a 3 person car. I have fit 1 adult behind the passenger seat reasonably comfortably on short trips around town. However, I'm not excessively tall (6'1") and trying to cram somebody behind the drivers seat while not smashing myself into a very awkward driving position would be REALLY difficult. It could be done if I had to, but it surely wouldn't be comfortable with 4 adults in the car in my opinion.

Anyone 5'11 and under will fit in the back seat. Any taller and your head is hitting the roof.

I also consider my S5 a three-person car, unless if the forth person is a child. I've had two passengers in my car and it was a tight fit for one of them in the back. I rarely have a need to for toting around more than one passenger at a time, so that helped with my decision to go with a coupe.

If I really had the need to drive around with more than one adult passenger frequently, I probably would have opted for the S4 (while it is more of a rocket than the S5 coupe, I am not a fan of the styling of the sedan nor some of the differences in the interior).

I'm 5'6, and my wife is 4'10...so we shouldn't have a problem in taking our over-sized friends for a joy ride LOL.

My son is SO screwed if he wants to play basketball hahahaha

I have had three people in my A5 numerous times without problems. No one will ever be able to sit behind me though because I'm 6'3" and sit very far back... long long legs. Most of the time I have had three, it has been one guy and one girl passenger, the guy is around 5'10" and the girl 5'7", and neither complain about being cramped. I have also had a friend who is 6'4" in front with his daughter in the back without problems.

For some it could be a 4 person car for short rides, for others 3 is probably the max. The good thing is the front passenger has TONS of leg room so they can sit up quite a bit.
