Find someone who has a steam cleaner that you can add some soap/detergent to. I've done that on engine bays. It is not easy on parts and hoses but neither is that grime on your car.

Actually, the grease is good on hoses and gaskets, keeps contaminants out such as the dust. However, it isn't good near the turbo or air/fuel systems. I'd start by starting the car, letting it warm up completely, covering the coils, and then perform a heavy degrease. Make sure to keep the engine running until the engine is dry. After the degrease I would spray down lightly with a misting from your hose to let all the grease fall underneath the car. Also, make sure all of the engine covers are off and the skid plate is off as well, you dont want all the runoff sitting on your skid plate....

EDIT: Also, purchase a heavy duty scrubbing brush thats soft, (No hard srubbers) and try and keep the engine bay from getting this dirty again. AND purchase a new coolant tank and get the coolant flushed for petes sake. That thing is blacker than the Black hole, I dont even wanna know whats in it. Make sure to put ONLY OEM Pink G12 Coolant in after.

    I hope that helps...

Not that bad, but it needs cleaned. Take that black plastic thing off the valve cover.

    1. Start with a good soak with a spray bottle (mist setting) of 50:50 water/simple green, let it sit for a couple of minutes, hose it off with your garden hose set to gentle soak or use no nozzle.
    2. Soak with simple green again, and find a 2" soft bristle paint brush, or an old makeup brush your GF is done with (the kind she uses for blush; clean it too) and use that to get in the crevices, then hose off again; repeat as needed.
    3. Grab a towel and dry off the excess water, then start the car. Let it run for 5 minutes, then close the hood and shut it off.
    4. Do some other detailing, then come back and make sure it's dry.
    5. Spray with a bit of foaming tire shine and let it sit.
    6. Admire your shiny engine bay.

Fantástico sounds like a good week end project! Other than simple green is there something more accessible in a tropical island I can get a hold of at the grocery store?

Oh wow, sorry I didn't realize you were in the Dom. Well, I suppose pick up whatever degreaser you can get that is biodegradable? I unfortunately live in a climate where if you don't like the weather, you just wait 5 minutes and it changes, usually colder this time of the year.

I do a 50:50 mix with simple green to dilute it down to regular cleaning strength but you should find something similar and follow the directions on the bottle.

degreaser on a warmish engine, covering all electronics. low pressure misting or light spray over engine to let runoff get all over the street. avoid the driveway, it may stain!

If the vehicle is still in dominican republic I would definately get that wire harness loom protected asap.
I fly down at least twice a year and replace a bunch of them on customer cars and they are all the same....cracked to bits.
