I have a completly stock 1.8t motor, just curious as to what exactly the N75 valve does and if it is something worth getting/replacing on my stock setup.

I did search and to no avail. I know sorry for such a noob question

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks in advance.

The N75 in simple terms is a boost controller. Basically it has three ports and an electrical connection that allows the ECU to regulate the wastegate. 1 port is the inlet the other two are outlets one leading to the wastegate and one leading back to the intake. The ecu reads the boost pressure entering the N75 valve and opens the wastegate by sending allowing the pressure to flow through. The ecu will open and close the N75 many times to regulate boost.

There are many other types of N75 valves on the market such as the "race valve". These are OEM valves found on other cars and act a little differently. Changin the N75 valve ill do little in the way of performance on a stock car. In fact if you mess with the N75 valve it will more than likely throw you into "limp mode" where you will not be able to boost over 5 psi. You can replace it with a manual or electric boost controller allowing you to set what psi you want to hit, but if you are not chipped this again will throw you into "limp mode". The best thing to do is if it is operating correctly leave it alone, and if you want more performance... a software flash is a good place to start.

As a performance mod, no, but you have an '03 like I do, and the parts are prone to failure. Based on reading the forum, I'd say 5-7 years and it's time to get a new one. A failing n75 causes all sorts of weird boost issues, so you may want to replace it as part of your preventative maintenance while you upgrade your performance. Food for thought.

I just replaced mine last week.

Slight correction the 3 inlets of the N75 are referenced to:
    1) Intake hose
    2) Turbo compressor housing
    3) Wastegate itself

I know that there is nothing wrong with upgrading the Tip however just makes it a lot harder with no local tuners.
