Do a search for the independant fog light mod.

It involves modifying the fog light relay. GL

Here's the DIY I used. It's not too hard, the hardest part for me was getting the relay box out because it's such a tight fit.

Independent fog modification is vastly different for 96-99 cars than for 99.5-2001.5 cars. Namely, the cars prior to 99.5 (aka "prefacelift") don't even have the fog lamp module.

Basically, if your door handles are flat and square, you've got more work to do. Just FYI

Just be careful with the amount of solder you use. It's a fairly small work area.

Has anyone made a DIY for the pre-facelifts?

pretty sure no one has wasted there time, they use a completely different system compared to the face-lift style, and just running the fogs in the 2-peice housings looks really funky, i wired them up for a sec and it didnt look good at all, this is when you upgrade to one piece headlights and fog lights

Pre-facelift wouldn't be too bad. Full independent operation (no high-beam self-cancel) would be the easiest to implement. You just need to pull fuse 36 (power to the fog buttons) then run a fused wire from the [fuse socket's] load pin to the 75x terminal. That way the fog buttons get power with the key (rather than with low-beams). Then you just replace the fog lamp relay with a heavy jumper wire and [KA-POW!!] independent fogs.

Keeping the high-beam self cancel would require keeping the fog lamp relay, and changing it's low-beam input signal to a 75x signal. Not hard, just not as easy as jumping past the relay.

No DRL's on my car. Have to turn them on manually. And up once on the lever is just parking lights, then up the second time is everything on. I don't want the parking lights and the fogs to be on.

Well you dont have fogs right?
What i did is used the wire from my amber parking lights to run my LED's
So one click up LED's, 2 clicks up Lights / LED's

I hate the way the amber side lights looked anyways. Turn signals still blink amber fine.

and they wont go out with your high beams

Well that sounds a bit more logical that way. lol.

I actually like that way. I've just ran through the fog mod in my head since it seemed easiest, but things usually come together in my head more when i actually have the wires in my hand and figure out what would work best. Thanks for the idea

And i do have fogs, they're built into the headlight. They really don't do a WHOLE lot, but it's a little light in the low areas.
