can lack of proper tune cause...

okay so as a lot of you know, a little over a year ago i swapped setups with maverick.
(G3 Supercharger, built internals and built tranny) Due to him having a return fuel rail and me not having 1 i was unable to run his tune. Greg@Ssp-tuning was working on one with me for about 5 months of me going there (almost everyday logging/reflashing) which is incredibly long for a tune but anyway. Eventually he sorta just gave up and now my car has only had a partial tune ever since. Many things have went wrong with my car but the only one we have not been able to fix is the INTENSE burning of oil. After many compression tests/other tests the compression seemed to be fine. We cannot find anything wrong aside from the fact that it is indeed burning oil. Its been brought to various shops, no one can diagnose the problem! Also my engine does run very hot considering i didnt get watermeth yet.
So can the tune have an effect on burning oil? and if not is it possible that my engine is just so hot that it is burning the oil just from it being so damn hot? Please help, as soon as i know whats ACTUALLY wrong it can finally be fixed! =/
    Thanks
    -Karp

If I was in the guessing game and you have an oil cooled super charger I would say it's your problem other wise I might lean toward pistons rings. if a lot of oil is leaking in to your piston chambers when you run a compression test all will seem fine. But in reality the little oil in the chamber is what is causing the compression test to come back good. What are you compression number. Should be around 150 for all 4 cylinders.

Also I no expert on S/C but I thought I would chime in...

i have the 3.0 (6 cylinder) and we did test for that. Most of the time that would happen if the car was driven within past two days. but the car sat over a week. I forget what all the tests they did were but many different shops all say "its not rings" we thought so at first too.

I thought your car was a 3.0 to begin with. The 3.0 B6s have a return fuel rail system.

If you didn't, why did you not convert? It would have been not even half a day to convert and you would have been able to run Maverick's tune outright and not waste 5 months with this tuner.

if the blower is oil cooled... your car is running REALLY hot.... and rapid heating/cooling of cast metal with a lot of stress on it......

could your blower have a crack or bad seal in it somewhere internally that's causing it to leak down and into your combustion chambers?
makes sense to me.... turbos do it. why not a blower?

this sounds like a possibility, i will have to have that checked out. And Douglas yes my car has always been 3.0, i dont think 3.0s come with return rail. I believe maverick had it done later on. and at the time we did not think it was worth it to change the fuel rail.

i thought they had a return rail and just had static fuel pressure so you need to swap to rising rate

I think you may need to start over from scratch at this point.

My shop gapped my rings for track duty but I found out that the pistons/rings never got hot enough when daily driving to fully expand and seal and I was getting lots of blowby and going through lots of oil. IIRC I would be losing a quart of oil every week and could watch the dipstick level go down after driving around town.

I took the car to the track, and after the first few laps everything sealed up and at the end of the day I barely used any oil up.

Doing a compression test would show great numbers so everything ;looked' fine, but the issue was the ring gap was too big. Swapped in new total seal rings and the oil consumption issue went away.

A lack of proper tune would do other things... like shoot flames out your tailpipes, blow apart a spark plug and melt an exhaust valve.

IMO, the oil consumption has nothing to do with the tune...it definitely sounds more mechanical. How many miles are on the engine?

3.0 B6 comes with a return style fuel rail.

Thats what we thought, but there have been tests done saying otherwise. I guess i will just have to start tearing it down and see. I've been thinking this was the problem, but every shop says otherwise. I guess we will know soon.
