    2004 A4: Disable Seatbelt Chime?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Everyone,

I have an 04 A4 USP, and I'm getting tired of the seatbelt chime that goes off every few mins if you have the car on, but not the seatbelt buckled up.

Is there a way to disable this thru vag-com somehow?

    Thanks in advance!

there must be a way because i dont have a chime in my car, never did. Maybe theres a way to just unplug the speaker like in a vw. If not i'm sure someone with a vag-com can disable it. Maybe ask your local audi dealer? Around here they'll do that type of thing for free.

from the b6 tech easter egg thread:

You need to VAG to turn off the chime:

    Instructions:

    Select]
    [17 - Instruments]
    [Recode - 07]
Write down the existing coding for future reference.
    Enter 5-digit code from below
    [Do It!]

Look at the first two digits in the coding. Add the values for the options together to get the correct coding.

    00 - No available equipment
+01 - Brakepad wear sensor warning active
    +02 - Seatbelt warning active
+04 - Washer fluid level warning active (may only work with pre-2000 models)
    +16 - Navigation System (non-USA models)

Look at the third digit in the coding (Market version):

    0 - "Germany" 24 hour clock
1 - "Rest of World" 24 hour clock
    2 - "USA" 12 hour clock
    3 - "Canada" 12 hour clock

What is your reason for wanting to get rid of it besides it's "annoying"? The seatbelt is in your car for a reason. Just wear it and you won't have to listen to the chime..

lol it always happens that all my cars never have the chime but my friends with the same cars do. my 03 gti didn't but my friends 03 and 04 gti did. my a4 doesn't and my friends s4 and a4 does... my girlfriends 06 jetta has it and its annoying if the passenger doesn't put theirs on.
