Long story short, I own a Dolphin Grey 2004 USP A4 1.8T FWD CVT in EXCELLENT condition inside and out, with 74k miles. The car was in, as far as I am concerned, a minor accident. Although the car didn't think so as the passenger airbag deployed... Rear ended the corner of a car who went to turn then completely stopped for no apparent reason and I was going around the shoulder, so i clipped them with the drivers side hood/fender. Speed was approx. 15mph, I don't understand how or WHY the passenger airbag deployed, but whatever.. Zero frame damage, just fender/hood.

Here is my dilemma, I have all the parts to make the car run, although not installed yet, radiator, power steering res, and the rad support cracked. Otherwise it is cosmetic. The car needs: drivers side headlight, fender, and hood. As well as the dashboard from the airbag. I was going to fix it, but have decided to part ways. I was going to sell it prior, then this happened....

So AZ, what do you feel the car is worth, if it is in running condition, but needs the mentioned parts. The interior is MINT, and the rest of the body besides the front corner is also in excellent condition.

Better trying to sell it as is, in running condition(ill put the front end back together..) or part it out?

Assuming you have the time and know-how, fix it and then sell it. Especially, since you noted that you have the parts already. If the car is in good shape, you will have no problem moving it once you put it back together. You will get much more $$ out of it then.

Fixing it myself is not a problem.. The problem comes in when I have to drop a grand into it to get the body parts paint work done since odds are I wont find used dolphin grey body parts and the couple hundred for the new dash.. I can't afford to do that right now.

I have basically accepeted that I am just going to take a loss on it, now I am just trying to gauge what it is worth to people.

I'm thinking $7000 to 7500, If you put 2 grand (more than enough to have it perfect again) into it you would have a 2004 USP with 74k miles for $9000... Realistic?

Anyone have any figures on how much a b6 a4 gets off a part out? I was adding some things up in my head, but i'm curious, no idea what the motor or the cvt would go for, assuming I'd be sitting on the trans for a while..

Would you pay 7,500 for a FWD USP that needs a new front end and dash+airbag?

well that is my thought process... to get a 2004 a4 that everything else is mint, i would grab it for 7k if I was looking for a cheap car that needed some easy work. the airbag definately makes things 5x as bad, if it wasnt for that it would be simple for anyone. but, that is why i made a thread, to see how others viewed it..
