Question.. Audi B6 A4. to do the rear coolant flange, do you have to drain the old coolant out?

You don't absolutely have to, but you'll make one hellaciously huge mess if you don't.

If you let the coolant flange repair go long enough it drains its self.

soo true, i guess you could do it without draining it if you don't care to dispose of the coolant properly...just did this last week and it is a bitch of a job...

take the belly pan off and put a drain pan underneath the tranny and just let it drain when you take the flange off. Make sure you have new coolant, a mirror, and a lot of patience lol. good luckk

Sears has a remotely operated hose clamp tools that I found to be very helpful. The hose clamp jaws are cable operated. Even with this tool it was a major pain getting back behind the engine. I don't know how people get those hose clamps off back there without these tools, but god bless them because I would loose my shiet trying to do it!

Take as much shit out from behind there as you can. Such a pain with all that crap there. Was so much easier once Charlie told me to take all that crap out from behind the motor haha.

yea, almost as long as it took me to do the timing belt...well, if i had a dremel i would have finished in 3, but i wasted like 3 hours trying to get that faking spring clip off the flange...so i had to make a trip to home depot...

This was a very annoying fix. One I would take into shop for $150 + part if I were to do it again.
