    034 Motorsport Replacement PCV / Hose Set Mid-2003 - 2004 Comments / Questions

Just installed one of these on my neighbor's 2003 - p/n 034-101-3004. This is the kit for the cars dated mid 2003 to 2004. It's only slightly different from the earlier version due to the fact that the factory changed the PCV to one with an additional small outlet which is plumbed up to the valve cover in parallel to the main line.

For starters, can someone explain what the purpose of this extra line is, at least what purpose did the factory intend for it to have? It seems 034 just eliminates it with their kit, reverting the car back to the earlier spec used on the 2002 - early 2003 cars.

This leads to my next question, specific to the 034 kit. In the kit is a cap and a plug. I used the cap to close off the nipple on the back of the valve cover. What's the plug for?

BTW, the main ~3/4" line is still too long (just as the one I installed several years ago was). Not a big deal - I just needed to trim off about an inch and then use conventional hose clamps to fasten it to the upper 3-way elbow hose.

Lastly, I managed to do this job without removing the intake manifold. I don't think I would do it that way again. The time I lost fighting with stuff under the manifold with weak hand positions probably was more than what it would have taken to just remove the manifold.

Thanks for the link. Hey, I even participated in that thread six years ago! :)

Still wondering about the left-over plug in the 034 Motorsport kit. Some instructions in the package would have been a plus, along with a confirmation that yes, you will be deleting a line and check-valve from the stock configuration (hint, hint....)
