You don't have to take the bumper off - but it's not the easiest thing to do with the bumper on

I have a DIY from Greg Nelson that I have been meaning to post on how to do it

Taking off the bumper to install the fog grilles would be a waste of time unless you have something else you want to do that involves removing the bumper. I have popped the fog grilles out and back in countless times now. It takes 5 seconds to get them out and even less time to get them back in.

If this is the grilles for the A4L in China, I don't think they fit flush.
I remember there is a very thorough review of these by one of the veteran members on this site. Think it was MW.
Basically the bottom will be very tight and you can either dremel it or let it be, but there may be a little gap down there.

    That would be me.....

And yes, they are kind of a bitch to install them into the bumper.

You can see in the pic below how the center top and bottom don't sit perfectly flush with the grill openings.

However, after the initial eagle eye scrutiny after the install, nobody would ever know they are not a 100% perfect fit. And they have not moved or popped out a bit since their install over 6 months ago.

    Whips (NOT MW)
Agree that they don't fit perfectly top/bottom. Upside is the chrome fog trim fit is perfection
BTW, did you paint the grilles satin black, or did they arrive that shade? My '09 3.2L P+ were flat grey - ugly then, but not now
    Cheers

    Sorry I missed this....

I did not paint mine, they were the same black plastic that my OEM ones were. The flash is just making them look more vibrant than they really are.

I couldn't get mine to fit!!!

So I snapped them out to glue them on. However, after cutting the tabs and I started to sand... THE WHOLE FREAKING RING! I was like "Okay, I'll just paint it back chrome!" LOL! What a mistake! I need to buy another set.

Anyhow, for the life of me, I could NOT get the bottom to fit in the slots. I gave up.

Looks nice! Where did you get it from? :) I am also in Sydney do you charge for installation hahah :)

How long did it take you to install? Also no gaps at all without cutting any pieces off? Do you need to take bumper off? Or just some screws?

nah i snap a unless piece of plastic around the back of the fog light, i think its ok to snap it as it was in my way during installation and there isnt that piece from the initial fog light grill.

I just got my new fog grilles over the weekend from China. (HK specifically).
Took about 5 days to be delivered, pretty fast for airmail from Asia.
I noticed the extra tab that you mentioned having to break off before install.
If this is what you would call a "small plastic tab", I'd hate to see what a large tab would look like. LOL.

Will be installing by the Weekend.

I got mine today. Took the old ones out, and got the new ones in within minutes. I broke the above mentioned tab off very easily, with a bit of adjusting, and a hard hit they clipped right in securely.

    they clipped right in securely
I hope they are indeed secured.
*Once removed mine to swap HID fog light bulbs and apperently i didn't slapped them in good enough. Result, a few days later i was driving around missing one front fog grill. I let the dealer install the new grill and noticed he had to slam it pretty hard (OEM parts). Couldn't think about the idea that would of happend if i had bought those OSIR fog grill (oeps, there goes 200$...).

    OEM fog grill.
I only wanted to point out i thought it was installed good, but it turned out it wasn't (you really need to hard slap it untill you hear it clicking...at least i heard them clicking after the dealer was putting them in with big force). But good to hear most don't have fitting complains witch should only help the secured installation.

I guess I didn't explain well enough in my last post, but they "clipped right in" after hitting them into place. Before hitting them into place, they were loose and definitely would have fallen out. They don't look like they're going anywhere now. Above post edited.

    Hi Joeyo,

Did you remove the middle tabs off both left and right A4L fog grills?

    Cheers,
    K.

Yes. The original fog grilles had no such tab, so I broke them off both sides.
