Question for the wheel experts (updated pics)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'll be looking at basically a new set of wheels and tires(well, used 150 miles) that came off a 2010 A4 Avant S-line, 18x8 et47, tires are 245/40/zr18.
My car is an 07 B7 2.0t quattro with 17 in. stock wheels, I think that set will fit, may have to get some centering rings from 66.1 ?? to 57.1.
Can anyone verify this? I'm sure some of you have done it.

    Thank you very much!

yep you will need hub rings due to the b8 has a bigger hub size
they should fit fine, but will tuck a good about because the offset is pretty high, but thats nothing some spacers cant fix

I'm going to do the same thing. I guess those B8 guys don't like the 18" sport wheels. I got the hub rings from ECS for like $18. Haven't installed them yet - waiting on Koni/Eibach kit to arrive!

I'm hoping they won't tuck too much, offset is only 2mm from stock, right?

You'll want the hub centric rings to be 66.6 to 57.1

That's what I'm worried about, maybe the seller posted the wrong offset. Maybe he meant 37 which would be perfect. Most 18 in wheels I've come across for the 2010 Avant are listed with offsets from 35 to 40. I'm just not sure how to find out exactly what the offset is for those wheels, they are Audi OEM, the seller upgraded to 19 in just after he bought the car.

An et37 would fit perfectly..just not as flush as you can get. The et47 should still clear without spacers.

i'd double check the offset...you are correct in thinking that it seems very high...
and a set of spacers would not hurt anyway in this case...just make sure you get hubcentric spacers so you can still slip your hub rings over the spacer...

Just to give you an idea, we've had customers fit our 9.5 et33 wheels without spacers. The 8 et47 will have about 5mm more clearance on the inside.

Also, anohter thing to consider is TPMS. I was told the B8's don't use TPMS, so the wheels won't have the sensors in them. If you car has TPMS (not sure if all B7's have it, but mine does), then you'll have to figure out what to do. Could try to VAG the tire pressure system off or pull the sensors from your stok 17s and install on the 18s. When you plan to install your new wheels?

You're spot on. The B8's use a TPMS that is built into the car and not installed onto the wheel. The OP's best bet is to swap his current TPMS over to the new wheels.

Audizine to the rescue! Totally forgot about TPMS, wasn't sure and called AUDI. My car has no TPMS, it monitors low pressure via the ABS system, one less headache to worry about.
Jacob is pretty sure they'll fit. I know I need centering rings, if they tuck in too much I'll use spacers. I already have 12.5mm in the rear with the stockers, we''ll see on Sunday.
    Again, thanks everyone.

try to get it to around +30 to +32 with spacers, then it'll be nice and flush with the fender. sexahh

So how's the math work on that? If the wheels are 47mm and you think 32 would be nice and flush with fender, does that mean 15mm spacers are needed?

And how's the center bore work out with wheels being 66.6 and hub being 57.1? Do spacers come with different center bore, and if so, do you match the wheel at 66.6, or the hub at 57.1? Just asking cause I've got the same wheels and plan to put them on in a few weeks.

    Thanks.

you are correct with the offset math...the lower the number the more poke...so subtract the width of the spacer from the original offset
and if you are going to run spacers you need to get hubcentric spacers...so buy 57.1 spacers then buy 66.6 hubcentric rings to slip on the spacer

Sweet, thanks! I've got the hubcentric rings, so all set there. If I want little more conservative look, but don't want the wheels burried in the fender, I'll maybe shoot for +34 or +36. So 10mm spacer on the front and 12.5mm on the back would net a +37 poke on the front and +34.5 in the back.

Or just get a VAG-Com to turn off TPMS! They are useless unless they actually give you the pressure in the MFD like Porsche.

What's MFD? And are you saying the Audi B7 TPMS doesn't do this and so I should bother installing the sensors on new wheels?

If I'm not mistaken Audi's TPMS lights up at a preset lower air pressure, Porsche's system shows actual pressure on the Nav display, I think...

B7s display icon only in the driver information display (or MFD: multi-function display). No specifics at all.

Well, finally got around to do it. Looks decent in my opinion, of course you're welcome to flame and comment away.
GA42.0T did the same thing down South, now there's one up north. I used centering rings, 10mm spacers up front and 12.5mm at the rear. They would have fit fine without them but the car looks better with them.

Now if I can just make the pics show up........can't

yea - i am new to spacers and rings. im trying to see how a ring would even work with a spacer on the wheel?

I am picking up a set of the B8 S4 18" Y spoke wheels with 245/40 et47. Im trying to figure out what size spacers/rings to get.

those 10s would be sufficient if you dont want a very aggressive look
10-15mm would give you a pretty flush look...nothing crazy...just pretty much right to the fender...maybe just recessed in there a little

    yeah that should work
i currently have plastic 66.6-57.1 rings fitted to my 11mm spacers
its a really tight fit but it works for me

you will also need longer lugs

well the rule with that is take stock lug length then just add the width of the spacer to that
i think OEM is like 27mm...so add 10mm spacer and you get 37mm obviously
    so get 40mm bolts?

the next closest size is 35mm and you would rather have more threads than less
i dont think the 40mm bolts would be to long
maybe someone else could chime in or you can just give ECS a call to double check
