Taking my car in on Wednesday to do a consumption test. I'm roughly a quart every 1000 miles.

There is a PCV fix for these issues. Ask your dealer about it.
I've had 750 miles on the new PCV and burned about 1/5 a quart so far.

Top offs should be included, you need a new dealer or make a complaint and threaten to make a bad survey on the SA

Routertyty, go to Stevens Creek, not that other place. I am at 4,300 and am about 3/4 quart low. In 92k miles on my B6, I never once added oil between changes and I did the yearly/10k miles. Not looking forward to it on this car.

I was adding a quart every thousand miles so it's better now.
warning:this fix will wipe your ecu tune.
Still waiting to get my updated giac software.

Here is what was done on the car:
    -Replaced Crankcase pressure control valve
    -Replaced Front Crankshaft Seal
Performed Part 1 of Oil Consumption test
    Performed SVM Flash Update
    Invoice attached:

Do you know what they replace? Thinking ahead it might be beneficial for us and the community to stock the replacement parts for people that later on down the road are out of warranty and have oil consumption issues.

routertyty: I assume you go to Carlsen Audi in PA? I suggest Rector Audi in Burlingame, even if it's just a bit out of your way. I used to take the 2.5 hour drive each way to have my car serviced there when I was under warranty because they are mod friendly and my service advisor Hector always took good care of me.

Would this have anything to do with the summer heat, cause after I did an oil change at 21K miles, I've been putting a quart every 1k-1.5k miles. I've never had an oil problem before that.

No. We average ~97 degrees all summer here and I typically only have to add a quart (or less) between services, regardless of the time of year.

The dealer had my car last Wednesday, I've driven ~700mi since then, and I'm probably at about 1/5 remaining on the oil level indicator. And my SA has the nerve to tell me that he's going to have to run a bunch of tests before I can get the damn recall work done.

Are you sure it was FULL when you picked it up? Typically after service, my oil level indicator is anywhere from 3/4 to 1/2 full, meaning 1/4 to 1/2 quart missing. I've never cared enough to complain, but it seems like a good scam when you add up all the oil they're saving over the long term...

Here is what I noticed. I got my car with 17 miles on it and I have ~2800 now.

If I drive in city and not drive like I stole it, there is no oil consumption whatsoever ( at least MMI screen says so !)

If I drive in city and drive it like I stole it, there is some change in oil level but not significant.

If I drive on highway no matter what style, I see a significant difference !!

I put at least 700 miles per month of which 650 are city miles. I first noticed the dip in oil level after visiting a tint shop 100 miles away !
Combination of engine heat, high gears might have something to do with it ???

My experience is exactly the opposite. I notice more oil consumption the more short distance driving I do.

My city driving ~10 miles per trip and I dont rev the engine above 2.5 RPM until I see the temp needle go to the middle of the gauge !

Ok I am at 1300 miles now and just went past half empty in the MMI.
So though my oil consumption is better (about 2x longer) it is not completely fixed.
I can't judge if this is completely accurate, but I'll drive it till the add oil light comes on.
Once the level starts moving on the MMI, it seems to go pretty quick...

Anyway, this is now well within Audi specs.

    Oil buring on my 2.0T

Speaking of oil burning, my wife's vehicle (09 2.0 quattro) has been burning oil consistently for the past 10K (car is now at 25K miles). It would burned one quart every 1100miles. Finally, I took it into the dealer to have them look at. I was shocked to see the repair bills. Basically, they took the whole engine apart and replace all of the pistons along with gaskets and bolts. They rebuilt the whole engine. I dont know whether this is a one off incident or something else. Anyone else have their engine rebuilt?

I am very surprised they didn't replace the engine. I didn't think anybody that works for Audi is capable to take an engine apart and put it back together, lol!

From what I've heard there is a TSB for this issue. I'm mid oil consumption test right now, taking my car in for the assessment when I get home.

If they tell me everything is fine I'm going to be livid... I've had to put oil in the car probably 10 times with 20k miles on the car and regular service intervals...

Does anyone know what is the actual issue? loose piston rings spec in the earlier year? This is my first 2.0 TFSI and I'm a little iffy investing in this engine again.

Unless oil consumption is greater then 1 quart per 1k miles your prob gonna hear its with in normal range....at least thats what others have been told thus far. Mine currently just used 1.5 quarts between 5k oil changes which is better then it has been and I am at 34k miles.

Guys, wind your cars out on a regular basis. I try to rev mine past 4.5k at least once a day and oil consumption is minimal. When I recently got my 2nd set of Hankooks, I babied the car for the 1st 500 miles and it ate a significant amount of oil during that time. Same thing happened when I got my 1st set.

I realize that many of you do do this and are still seeing issues. All I can report on is my own experiences.

Regardless, I'm convinced that these cars like to go out and party instead of sitting around crocheting all day. Give it the life it was destined to have

    Problem is Manhattan traffic.
I'm nearing 1700 miles after the PCV fix and only 1/4 left on the MMI oil indicator.

Hmm, interesting, I've heard from multiple sources that the more high-rpm driving you do, the higher the oil consumption will be. Having said that, I do basically what you are doing and my oil consumption is around 1/2 -> 1 quart per 5k miles.

This is what the belief I have been working under as well since I bought the car, but since I recently moved I changed my habits a bit in the "what the hell" mentality since I was already burning on average 2 quarts per 5k oil change, and this last change was only 1.5 quarts so maybe there is hope in the high RPM's....

Could it be that your getting to your destination faster thus engine is running less thus decreasing consumption?
