The real question is, how much did this conversion cost?

Did you eventually fix that? My friend's B7 is having the same problem after the conversion. Full tank but gauge indicates half position.

you have to run the wire for the driver side fuel sender to the instrument cluster, and change the cluster soft coding from FWD to AWD

    Thanks Matt.

Yes, that's what I heard. I was told to wire the purple/black wire to Pin11 on the blue 32pin connector of the cluster, and ground the brown/yellow wire.

As for the coding, I could'nt see where to change the coding since the Quattro on 8E is purely mechanical(according to the Ross-tech)? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

pin 11 on the blue connector is correct.

the soft coding for the cluster (17) specifies FWD or AWD, which exists solely for the cluster to know if it should use the readings from one fuel level sender or two.

    see: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...ED/8HE)#Coding

IIRC, you're changing the soft coding from 2201 to 3201, but the last digit may be different on the B7 (my AWD swap was on a B6)

So if I were to find a tip trans b7 and rob all the parts from that car and slap it on a b6 it’ll work or does it have to be a b6 tip trans? Also if I’m going from cvt to tip would I need a different Tcm or is that a vcds thing?

So as far as I know (from reading this forum) tip cannot work with cvt/manual. The crankshafts are different, as far as b6 to b7 I'm not sure but it's two different engines

you'd be far better off starting a new thread, since your question is completely different than the topic of this thread.

I found that the cvt can be swapped to a m/t but not to a tip, just remembered that the tip trans needs a cone on the end of the crankshaft.

your posts have all been extremely unclear this far.

Are you wanting to go from CVT to AWD Tip? That's no possible AFAIK without swapping crankshafts.

can you use B7 parts? of course, as long as the trans/diff/driveshaft/axles all go together

I just wanted to know if there were specific parts that I needed from either chassis, and yes I know that going from cvt to tip would be impossible unless I find this adapter that I read about in a different topic

Hey everyone, thanks for posting about the topic. I'm preparing to buy an A3 wagon (2007-2012) with AWD but I'd prefer FWD. Mainly for fuel efficiency. I see many more used AWD than FWD for sale. If I'm not happy with the AWD fuel consumption, could I remove the driveshaft, differential, rear axles and replace the rear subframe with wheel bearing type? Or, is the difference in miles per gallon small enough that I wouldn't notice?
