Thank you so much for the guide! Got it working in my car and installed the jack in the same place. Looks great and works like a charm.

Im about to do this job I think. I wonder, how do you get the input so flush with the metal showing on the button?

I just got my first real Vag Come today so Id really like to know what the coding is to enable this.

Bear in mind there is a minimum, but still better than almost 10 bucks for 2 connectors and a piece of wire at the stealership.
Maybe this is Newark who messed up the shipping but the connector I received are too big to fit inside the connector. The OEM one are square but those I received are rectangular!!

Anyway I'll try to reorder a new set just in case!!

I wired in an aux input but i cannot get my radio to switch to the ext source. i reprogrammed it with my vag-com cable. The second digit was a 6 and I changed it to a 7. I even reopened it to verify that it was still a 7.

EDIT- I was able to figure it out. To access the aux input i had to press the cd button twice in quick succession. Then it went to the cd for a second and paused before switching to the aux input. Now i can hold the cd button to get to aux or press the cd button twice. After I first did the recoding holding the cd button did not work. Here is a picture of my install. Its worth noting that the aux input plug from audi like the one i installed has a surge protection circuit on it. Ive read concerns about surging with this mod.

After reading this thread I decided to just buy the Denison kit from Enfig. It was easy to install and works OK, but I am upset with Enfig's careless customer service. With my order I also ordered the Metra removal tools. Yes, I missed the fact that only 2 were included per set, as clearly stated in the item description, thinking I was getting the 4 needed to pull the Audi radio. Yes I cussed-out the guy on the phone after learning my mistake. But Enfig should have alerted me to the discrepancy when I placed the order. You need 4, that's FOUR tools to pull the radio. Enfig absolutely knows this fact and should have flagged my order when they knew I was buying an AUDI B7 kit. This is the way I treat my customers. It cost me an extra $15 to have a local car audio guy pull the radio for me this morning.

Ultimately my fault, but I'll hesitate ordering from Enfig in the future. If anyone needs 2 (TWO) radio removal tools PM me, I will forward them to you free.

You need 2 wires. You are going to cut one of the wires in half, so you have 3 ISO connectors to slide into the black connector. Take off the blue piece to make sure the 3 connectors are all the in. You will feel them clip in & you are good to go!

The wire comes with connector, its all one piece. One end of the wire is the part you solder on the AUX plug & the other has the ISO connector

Decided to tackle this install today. Sorry for the iPhone pics

Ripped apart the center console to run my wires

    All finished

The hardest part of this whole thing was soldering the wires to the jack. Other than that it was fairly straight forward

Sounds great and I'm pumped to have this for my drive from Seattle to Ann Arbor, MI.

Just to throw this in there, you can also do this this way.

Here is just a quick write up of how to integrate an aux-in into your radio if you don’t know how. I got stuck trying to figure out how to get the aux in to work with the harness so just some info for people who get into the same situation. The harness I used to go from symphony II to II+ was this http://www.euro-parts.us/store/index...&product_id=56 and here is how to integrate this Aux-IN into it http://www.euro-parts.us/store/index...&product_id=54

Ok so here is the AUX-IN adapter

Simply push the tab up on the white plastic that is holding the smaller black plastic piece in, it will slide right out like so...

Now note how the pins are in the harness, grab your screwdriver and push the pins out,you just need a small screwdriver to depress the visible tab on the top of the pin and give it a slight pull. Should come out without much force.

Now just reinsert the pins into the harness exactly how they were in original adapter harness

Reattach it into the quadlock and you are good to go

Now I am waiting on my vagcom so I can tell it that it is available which is already outlined by the rosstech wiki OP linked.

EDIT UPDATE: Vagcom'd and works great, now have an AUX IN. Winning
    Cheers

I received 100 connections (AMP/TYCO P/N 963715-1) from Allied Electronics today. Cost me $10 (100 was the min order). If anyone wants some, PM me and I'll give you my address and all you have to do is send me a stamped, self addressed envelope and I'll throw in 6 and return it to ya free-o-charge.

DIY still applies. iPod adapter in glovebox is useless. Some people like the bluetooth option that comes with the aux cable as well but it's more costly.

Audi dealer doesn't sell connectors anymore, it's available as patch wire or something like that.

So, I performed this mod, quite easy. However I had no repair pins so I just soldered the wires directly to the head unit. I get sound, and it is clear, but it is substantially quieter than radio or CD. Anyone else have this issue??

EDIT- I was able to figure it out. To access the aux input i had to press the cd button twice in quick succession. Then it went to the cd for a second and paused before switching to the aux input. Now i can hold the cd button to get to aux or press the cd button twice. After I first did the recoding holding the cd button did not work. Here is a picture of my install. Its worth noting that the aux input plug from audi like the one i installed has a surge protection circuit on it. Ive read concerns about surging with this mod.

Anyone have a part number on this factory piece? I love clean and factory this looks installed,, this is the route I wanna go :)

    EDIT: Part number is 8J0 035 475,, also need a flat 4-pin connector housing 8E0 973 754

Anyone able to help me Vag Com? I don't have vag com and would like to do the aux input ... I wouldn't mind taping into my Sat input because I don't use it if I can do that without using Vag-com.

can anyone confirm if 000-979-009E is the right part number? i looked it up on http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/000979009E/ and its labelled as a Rear Fog Light Trigger Wire.

The end connection looks like what I used. Should work and just solder the other end to the Aux plug.

does anyone know what all those "yellow" wires are for? is it for satellite radio? i don't need satellite radio so i am thinking of just cutting couple of those wires and use it to make my AUX input. kinda waste of money to pay $10 for each wire at audi when i can do it for free.

according to wiring diagram on first page it is data in, data out, bose, cdc, +ub cdc. does anyone know what these are for? data in/out is that for gauge cluster display? what is bose? some kind of signal to bose amp? cdc = cd changer? +ub cdc???
