O2 Sensor | 2.7T

I need to replace the Bank 2 Sensor 1 for my A6 2.7T.

I was told by the mechanic that the regular oxygen sensor should not be used; instead a wide band sensor must be used to avoid future complications [since it is a twin turbo].
Is it true?

How much does it cost? I was quoted ~260 [parts+labor]

Never heard of such a requirement. They do go sometimes. Problem is front ones are hard to get at; 260 may be a few bucks high, not far off, though.

um wide band sensors do not come on our cars. nor do air fuel ratio sensors. the front o2 sensor is just a plan old heated o2 sensor. cost about 150bux plus labor (prob and hour) 260 isnt bad.

I now do not see the CEL. Do I still need to change the sensor? or does this indiacte something else?

Why is the CEL coming on and off?

I just checked with the mechanic. He has asked me drive and see if the CEL comes again or not.

He found it to be weird because when the CEL came up, it showed two codes [Oxygen Sensor & Coolant Temperature Sensor] and now both of them went off.

He also mentioned that the computer might also be malfunctioning and it ll be expensive. How much does it really cost?

If you need 02 sensors for either front or rear, get these ones. I just replaced both my fronts and its working perfectly. They are not difficult to change. I just used the typical O2 socket and use like 3 long extensions. Then just splice the new O2 sensor to the old connector (trace each line back so that you have the right wires). Save yourself $$$$ and DIY!
