Audi R8 V10 and 770 Avant at Daytona

This was shot from my car last weekend at Daytona. Around the two minute mark I catch up with a CTS-V following a R8v10, caught up by slower traffic here and there we were pretty much toe to toe for the remainder of the session.

The R8 owner was a nice guy, his first question was "how are you so fast". Lots of variables out there (driver abilities) but you get the idea, being the guy in the station wagon also increases the fun factor.

Uku, still on stock motor from top to bottom, very tame tune with 23psi ramping up to 25psi in the taller gears. It put down 480hp/510tq.

Same route as the Rolex24, the banks are sweet!

Awesome video Jupiter...Very jealous of your car and that you can be racing at this time of year. There is something about a wagon going around a track that is wrong and right all at the same time.

Do you still have the full interior in it?

Thanks Saud, full interior with the only change being the two seats you're very familiar with (he also has a set of Recaro sportsters)

I don't know for sure the mph, I know exiting turn 4 I was in the 155 range, after that I really wasn't looking. I was a bit into 6th and still pulling strong, my guess is low 160's. I meant to put the gopro inside to catch a glimpse of the speedo, never did.

Toyo R888's, don't use an R compound if you don't plan to continue using them, I love them. Did the first session on my street setup (didn't have time to swap) felt like I was walking on eggshells.

I uploaded a couple more, here is a short one of the same session about six minutes later. I'm still with the R8, then a Lotus Elise came into the picture, not a chance to catch him in the turns but you can see me reeling him in on the straights.

Looked to be everytime you crossed the R8s bias. I gather you were running DRLs, if so it may have been the reflection. If you look at the top(or 3rd) brake light it does not come one when you see the effect mentioned. I noticed it, same as others, when you caught him. Thought he was break checking you at first, then noticed the intensity of the light was different from side to side.

Just my observation....

VERY nice videos!!

Had a chance to drive and R8 at LVMS infield a few years back. Was great even if only for 5 laps. Driver capability has a large amount to do with how well you do. I was able to pass a Gallardo, better lines and overall speed.

Again great vids.
