I am just in the middle of getting them to tune my car. I have contacted them with the initial details of my car (S8 intake, ported/polished S8 heads, 2.5inch exhaust, Miltech downpipes, 6speed swap) and am waiting to hear back from them for any extra parts needed to go with the tune. Im guessing the completion of the tune and the install of the S8 parts is still a few months away, but Ill keep you posted once I get to that stage.

Awesome! I'm a few months away from getting my motor swap done.....but my plans include an S8 motor, Milltek downpipes (thanks to Greg@Griffin for the great price), 2.5" true dual exhaust, and SAI and rear o2 delete......I'm hopeful that the file has been completely refined by the time I'd ready to get my car on the road

Have they managed to force EVAP, SAI, and O2 readiness on cars with deleted secondary o2 sensors and SAI systems yet? Last I checked, there wasn't anyone who would guarantee a car would pass obd2 emissions, even if they are able to turn the check engine light off.

its getting closer, evap is still a work in progress but that may be another issue with the car I'm not sure. Sai is good, O2 readiness is all set, drives well (no surging etc) and pulls hard.

let me know if you got my message re the spacers. For the resistors give them a call if you havent had a chance, they added some staff recent and should be able to set you up with a set.

We would be able to get you some JHM Spacers and 034 Transmission Mounts, along with 034 Motor Mounts (they come with resistors). If you don't need the mount, we can just sell you the resistor. We have the first batch of those Automatic Transmission Mount Spacers made, we just haven't had time to add them to the site yet!

Shoot us an email or give us a call and we'd be happy to help.

Spacers are needed if you plan on using mounts from the narrow body A6 like 034 Street/Track density trans mounts. The A6 4.2 trans mounts are taller so the spacer fills in the gap. I need to pick up a pair of those spacers as well.

You do not need spacers if you buy the correct aftermarket trans mounts. If you check 034's site, the ones for the 4.2 C5 cars (RS6, S6, A6 V8) and B6/B7 V8 cars (S4 & RS4), are all the same.

Many people doing the 6 speed conversions to the V8 cars mistakenly think that the trans mounts form the donor cars are needed and they are not. You just need to retain the trans mounts from the V8 cars.

    Steveken-

These JHM Transmission Mount Spacers are required for Automatic/Tiptronic transmissions. Regular mounts will not fit properly without them. As you can see in the picture below pulled directly from 034 Motorsport's website, they use a type of spacer for their "Tiptronic B6/B7/C5 Audi A4/S4/S6/RS6 Trans Mounts" as well.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying.

I attest that the stock tiptronic trans mounts will work with the 01E if you are converting a C5 V8 to a manual. I've done this on an S6 and two RS6's.

Therefore, aftermarket RS6 trans mounts will work with the C5 V8 cars with the 01E

    Steve,

You are correct. The spacers are only used with V6 A6/S4 parts, some of which were only available for the V6 and not V8. Apikol actually has a nice set of transmission mounts for the RS6 and those are what the V8, 01E swap guys should use. But, incase they opted for mounts only available for the V6, spacers are a must.

    SteveKen and pohsib-

What I am saying is, if you want to run aftermarket Transmission Mounts (like 034's) you will have to run these spacers because aftermarket Transmission Mounts have only been made for MANUAL cars. Of course OEM Automatic Transmission Mounts will work, that's what came on the car. Most people we do these swaps for upgrade to the 034Motorsport Density Line mounts and our spacers so that's what I was speaking to.

The mounts on the V8 cars are the same Automatic or 6 speed (european spec) Audi part 2x 4B3399151 bonded rubber mounting
It's not a difference between auto versus manual, but rather 6 cylinder versus 8 cylinder.

If you want to use the shorter V6 style trans mounts with a V8 manual conversion, then a spacer will be needed.

Your original post threw me by saying that spacers were 'needed'. But if you buy the right ones in the first place, the needed spacers are included and therefore you don't have to buy anything extra. I'm mincing words here.

So the 034 V6 and V8 mounts are all the same and they all have spacers? Or do the V8 ones only have spacers? I have a set in my garage that I never installed and never even opened up the box, which explains my somewhat uninformed assumption.

The V6 mounts are shorter than V8. It doesn't matter what type of transmission is used (manual or in my case tiptronic - I did a 2.7T swap in my A6 widebody). The V8 subframe sits a bit lower and wider at the rear to accomodate the larger transmission and requires a taller mount so in the case where a mount was designed for the V6 A6/S4, you need the spacer to make up the gap.

So can I get some clarification please. When doing the swap should the v8 tip mounts be used or the v6 manual mounts be used. I feel like I'm reading this and you're talkin in circles.

    Widebody4.2-

If you want to use your OEM Mounts you can, because they were made to fit. If you want to use AFTERMARKET mounts such as 034Motorsport or Stern you will have to use the V6 mounts (ie: B5 S4 ) with the spacer.

This is being used out of context, the rs6 4.2 and the a6 4.2 are completely different motors no part swapping here only s6 and s8 parts will swap. From what we've found the cams are where the power is. The s6 and s8 share intake cams and the s8 has its own exhaust cam. But the a6 exhaust cam is the same as the s6 exhaust cam so in theory you only need intake cams and intake manifold and a tune to achieve the s6 power.

The RS6 engine and the A6/S6 engine are essentially the same, the major difference are the block, the RS6 engine has a larger bellhousing due to the large torque converter, and the crankshaft has a 10 bolt versus 8 bolt crankshaft. Timing components are interchangeable with the S6/A6 engine. The cylinder heads are reportedly to have a better coolant passage design. The pistons have a deeper dish, and the exhaust valve differ as well. Intake valves are the same, and the valve train is shared with the S6/S8.

JHM can do headers for your 4.2. And theyll offer WAY more performance than dps on an NA engine.

yes i have the headers.....there meant for the S4 4.2 but actually fit the A6 4.2 better.
