(PNB7's) - 12V VR6 Swap w/ GT35R Project and Tiptronic to 6MT Conversion

Alright gentleman after literally years of indecision and pondering what I wanted to do with my car I have finally decided to dive into and tear my car apart now that I have a spare car to drive around for the next three months. As the unfortunate owner of a tiptronic I tried to fuel my speed needs with the APR K04 kit, which I must say is extremely impressive, however my need to do the unconventional and the opportunity put before me and my distrust in the FSI motor has lead me towards my current project. To highlight a little bit because I am still putting together I will be putting in a 12V VR6 that is already bluprinted, built, and currently sits with a GT35 already tuned. I have already purchased a complete new driveline to convert to 6spd and I am putting together the rest of the things needed as we speak. I am very fortunate to have two extremely experienced VW master technicians as my friends and co-workers and without their advice and knowledge I don't think I would have tried to put this together. I think the motor combined with the quattro drivetrain will prove to be a pretty awesome mix. I already posted my K04 kit in the classifieds. however as you can probably infer there will be a lot of things for sale from my car including most drivetrain components, the motor (maybe, might keep it for another project), trans, and probably a bunch of other stuff. I am extremely nervous but more excited than anything so I will keep you guys updated as things progress. I'm aiming to hopefully start work by about the 15th and if anyone local wants to come check stuff out you are more than welcome to come stop by. Wish me luck


UPDATED::::: So far what will be for sale is the full APR K04 S3 kit, APR FSI fuel pump, H&R springs, Brtialman Testpipe and custom Britalman downpipe bent to fit tiptronic transmission, Carbonio CAI intake, Custom heat shield, Tiptronic Transmission with 31k miles on it, rear drive axle, rear differential, front and rear axles, tiprtonic shifter and shifter surround, probably forgetting a bunch of stuff but thats the list so far. Sick. As soon as you get that VR running, we want sound clips pronto. Any particular reason you went 12v instead of 24v? Or was it just what was available to you? Just curious, some people are die hard 12v over 24v, and vise versa of course.

It was availble to me to be honest. I have two of them available actually but they are 12V built by the same guy haha. So I guess I am influenced by their wisdom as they've been doing it for over 30 years so I'm learning as we go.

Alot...i dont want to get into a specific number but over 500whp eventually but i just want to get the car together and see how it goes and build up the boost over time. If you look up the 034 time attack car i think you will find that its more than possible to do this. And yes I am quattro that's half the reason I am doing it I wouldn't really consider it with FWD.

AEM. The motor I think I'm going to use (there are 2 I can take that are identical) was built by Applied Arts in New Jersey and the other motor was built by the Master VW Technician helping me with all of the work on the car. Either way though the AEM standalone is already tuned. I will need to get it re-done on the dyno once everything is together but for now I know the motor runs strong and well on the tune that is on there

ya im just curious on how you'll tap into all the systems(airbags, dash all that good stuff) and to get them all to talk, even though the ECU is run a different system than ur stock software?

In due time my friend in due time. I've been planning this for a while and hopefully everything is solved but if not I might have to use some of the engineering stuff I've learned. I trust very much the guys that are doing this with me and theyve done it a bunch of times so I think we should be able to figure it all out if we run into any problems

Hey guys. Not really an update on the car as I'm still getting some of the parts together but I was able to do field testing for 3M automotive for their new matte black and carbon fiber material. We had previously done a matte black Porsche with a different 3M film and this was the newest, more durable stuff. It is not the same as DINOC, its about 3mil thick vs. about 6-8 mil on DINOC so its much easier to work with and it has the ability to adhere to srufaces and countours that DINOC hasn't been able to do.
