PITA small problem - thoughts?

On the rear door of '04 Allroads (and others I'm sure.) there is a small compartment that holds the triangle reflector for when you are stuck for whatever reason. On the door of this compartment there is a small latch that you twist to engage and disengage. On the inside of the door the latch has a two-pronged clawlike catch that goes into a small hole and catches -something?- to keep the door closed. Whatever used to be in that small hole is gone, so there is nothing for the latch to catch on, so the door swings open every time I brake with moderate or more force, and then swings shut with a little thump when I accelerate again. Also when I open the back door the door to the reflector compartment hangs down and gets in the way.

As I said in the title it's a small PITA problem, it's just annoying is all. I could take the reflector out and close the door permanently easily enough but if there's an easy way to fix it I'd rather do that, it's actually a kinda cool little feature on the car when it works right. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I'd try vel cro first. That stuff quiets all kinds of rattles and keeps all sorts of temporary things held together in my other vehicles. The Audi doesn't need any vel cro yet. :-)

Velcro's a good idea, thanks. I'll have to check tomorrow in daylight to see if there's a place to stick it.

Come to think of it, why not just wire it shut? If you need it, break the wire. How often do you use an emergency triangle, anyway?

Well, I've had the car since '04 and I haven't used the reflector yet, so it's kinda hard to say. Less than once every six years I guess.

I liked the velcro idea better, I have some here, I'll try that first. This is why I made sure to say "small problem" in the thread title.
