Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, I have a C5 4.2, i was replacing the little plastic linkages that break (intake manifold linkage arms). When i noticed that the rubber diaphragm is ripped . Does anybody by chance have an extra one? Or know where i can get one?

Sweet, would you by chance know the part number? :p Or the exact name of that part?

That's a bummer!! I kept worrying I was going to rip them when I had them apart. To be clear, was it the shaft (runs front to back inside the manifold), the arm (perpendicular to shaft, rotates it), or the rod (attaches vacuum actuator to arm) that broke? You could probably epoxy the rods, but I don't know about the arms.

If I end up going to an RS6 intake manifold (it's a toss-up at this point), I'll have lots of spare parts for you, but you probably need them right now.

The only part numbers I can find on the actuators are 077 907 927 A, and the rods don't have part numbers on them, so they may be considered part of the actuators.

It was just that rubber piece, it just has that one vacum line and is held on by 1 nut. I think.

Shokan is a great way to pay a mint for a part that might be no better than what you've got. I'd sooner buy new at the dealer or a worldpac distributor - you might be surprised at how cheap some new OEM parts are. Oh, and LOL at "secondary air injection arms". Secondary air injection is a totally separate system that uses a bumper mounted blower fan to push fresh air into the exhaust system, "starting" the catalytic converters.

When the variable manifold is functioning, it aids in low-end power production. With the system removed, you're in high RPM power mode, to put it simply. If you want to make the car more drivable, it might work to wire the arms into the position they're in at idle (both toward the middle). You'll lose top end power, but the car will feel a lot more torquey down low, which is where most of your time is probably spent.
