    Mines are installed since last april, I've droved them for 4000 miles w/o any issue. I'm running stage 3 fueling from AWE tuning they boost up to 22-24 zone EVERY time
    i drive the car and they pull hard. I love that car ! For the install (did myself) i had to cut off some material in order to fit the coolant banjo bolt on drivers turbo, like many people did.
    I had to do couple boost leak test in order to fix them all, but except those small things my experience with RP's is great at this day.

    left turbo has a leak some where. hear a whining noise around3k and goes away. i have only been running 5psi.

    A) Who's turbo's have failed (in anyway) and was self installed ?

    B) Who's turbo's have failed (in anyway) and professionally installed ?

    How long have your turbos been in the car Adam? What kind of boost are you running? These are important pieces of information... Saying after 1500 miles @ wastegate boost (as if that's a lot) really doesn't help anyone... Wastegate boost on K04s is 9 PSI... I'd hope they're OK at 9psi..

    This thread can be really helpful for people if the right information is shared. If you have less than 5K on the setup and at least 6 months, state that. State your boost levels. If you have failure mention which intercoolers the car had, etc.

    Some people have certainly shared good information, and I'm sure they will perform OK. The problem is you have to take everything here with a grain of salt considering they haven't been run for 20, 30, 40, 50 thousand miles for years and years. It'll be a long time until you'll have solid data on these turbos and their reliability.

    i had my set installed by a mechanic i have 8000 miles on them running 22 24 psi.no problems they pull hard and sound fine.

    I had them for 500 mi and they went. they are being eval'd for defects right now and from the whole situation its looking like a defect. But they are warrentied and so is the work so either the new turbos are free and pay the labor, or he buys new ones and installs them for free. anyone have any problems with theirs?

    What happened? They just blew seals, or WG issue or something else?

    I am guessing he wasn't really getting on it. I don't see how you could beat an SVT Cobra that badly.

    Was it an SVT (Supercharged or older NA) ?

    I was 'stuck' behind a ('99-'01 type model) green SVT cobra (looked mildly prepared, exhaust, brakes, etc.) at a track day session at Pocono, he wouldn't give me the pass signal for the entire session. I was literally on his bumper even in the NASCAR sections/ straights. I was up his ass for 45 minutes straight. My instructor encouraged me to get even closer to him, which I was uncomfortable with since I was more interested in driving my car home than making the SVT guy look like an ass. He went over and had words with the driver of the SVT after the session.
    A little too much pride in that SVT perhaps?
    Some kind of slime green metallic, I can still remember the color, yuck.

    im not even posting the cobra video to say the things fast at all i think its junk.but this is a rp ko4 thread and thats what i have on my car.now you can see a video with rps on it stage 3.the race means nothing at all its all about the thread.

    well ive had a good time with my rps but ran into some problems.i have like 8000 on them by now.i started to go into limp mode so we did a smoke test and the wastegate actuator on my driver side is fucked.dont know why or how but it is.this is the 1st time under the car since the build.so now i looked at the passenger side turbo and i have a minor oil leak from it.not the lines from the turbo itself.no smoke no noise so im gonna tighten some things up and report back asap.

    We just installed a set on a customers car and both of the turbos started leaking coolant. Upon further inspection the coolant 'plug' on both of the turbos the washers that came on there are way too big. I am going to get in contact w/ RP so they can resolve this issue.

    PS: Getting to those plugs with motor in the car are a major PITA. Especially on a TIP car.

    One of my RP K04's coolant plug also leaked when I put in the coolant in the car. It was dropping coolant even with the car not started. I replaced the copper washer and made sure not to overtighten it and it did the trick. I did it with the engine in the car and it wasn't all that hard on the driver's side turbo. Not sure how easy it is to do on the passenger side and I hope I won't have to find out.

    Passenger side is much harder than driver side.

    My guess is it's a shitty washer that they send you that is improperly sized..

    It is on the turbo itself. Which makes you believe that it should be fine until you install it and it leaks...

    the coolant leak im not worried about ill switch out the washers.i wish i knew about that before the install.

    ok so heres my final comment on them.The coolant washers leak.The actuators are pure trash and My passengers side is leaking oil.my driver side actuator just stopped working its junk so i switched it with my old ko3 one.my driver side is leaking oil from the turbo.right in the middle where the turbo splits its leaking.So that means its gonna die soon so ill have to pay to get my engine ripped out again.AT THE END HERE I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT BWS.TAKE IT FROM ME THEYRE TRASH.SAVE YOUR $$ GET THE REAL DEAL.

    Same thing happened to mine after being installed by a reputable shop. Both turbos were leaking coolant cause of the washers. Washers were replaced and first test drive the driverside turbo blew. Needless to say I'm pissed. Definitely go with Borg Warner, it's worth the extra cash for quality and piece of mind.
