Next cut out the openings (I used a pneumatic mini sawzall, but a keyhole saw would work), and then clean up your cuts with a file.

Then cut the aluminum angle stock to fit the openings, mark your holes, drill, then rivet them in place.

I also wanted to redo those rubber brake cooling dams that were scraped off of my lower shield, so I sacrificed an Impala front air dam that I found at work. It's a heavy plastic rather than the rubber that they were originally made of.

    And done.

Here's a couple of diagrams that I made with my crayons to illustrate the dimensions of the vents and the way that they work. Hope this helps anyone interested in this cheap and simple modification.

looks great man. have you considered running mesh over the slots? maybe like an rs style from lltek. looks very functional but id be a bit worried about debris bouncing in. giant rocks or some bull shit. i can see belts in the pic, other then that id consider doing something like this when i replace my cover aswell

I'm still running sans screen, but I did this mod on another local RS6 and he had me add this screen. Keeps the rabbits out. The problem I see with running a screen is that the only thing available is steel, there isn't any aluminum mesh available that I could find. This presents the potential for cross contamination between the aluminum and the steel, so eventually the aluminum will start to corrode, as will the screen, to the point of eventually falling off. The winter salt will only accelerate this.
