    Reverting Cold Air Intake

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have cold air intake on my car now, and I was thinking of going back to the OEM parts and air filter. Does anybody know how much this would cost and what parts I would need? Also, if you know of a place I can purchase them, it would be great if you could post them.

good luck finding OEM intake parts...been looking for a year now, no one seems to have any lying around. Don't even want to know what the dealer will charge for these parts. Keep waiting for wrecked cars to show up in the classifieds, but the intake is always gone before I see them.

I've seen many on the classifieds before. One being my buddies from his B6. Keep an eye open.

I can't believe it's that hard to find! If I'm changing back to the OEM airbox, do you guys know what parts I will need? Do I just need the airbox?

How much would you sell it for? Also, do you know how to put it back in?

I will sell it. Not sure what a fair price is, but whatever it is would be the price. you have a photo of your intake ? Should be real easy to put in.

I think my pic is of the one from an 07 but that one is on my car now. the extra is from an 04 so it should fit yours perfect.

I'm not sure what a fair price is either, but I think on Shokan they are going for like $60-70.

The install isn't too hard, just a few bolts. If you set it in the engine bay it will be fairly obvious what goes where.

Is the intake basically just this cone filter?

no not at all. Its a flat panel filter. I'm not sure if that tube attached to the cone filter is part of the oem it or not. The intake box will sit where the filter is now. It has 3 intakes in to it. One through the top snorkel, one through a flapper valve on the bottom, and one through a hole in to the fender. A tube comes out of the box pointed at the intake. It looks like you will need the intake box, flat panel filter, and POSSIBLY the tube that connects the box to the rest of the intake tube. I'm not sure what is happening underneath your cone filter in terms of the flapper valve intake. But that probably doesnt matter

Does anybody have a pic with the stock airbox taken out? This is what mine looks like, and I don't see any other outlets that is supposed to be on the oem.

you aren't thread jacking, you're just trying to get an oem intake just like the OP.

I'm a little confused, b/c the oem box has 3 outlets and I don't have 3 outlets to fill them. I probably do, but I just don't know which one goes where.

04's dont have 3 outlets for some reason, but everything 05 and above has three outlets in the air box. The newer version of the airbox will fit in an 04; you can just cover it with whatever.
