From Brake Pedal to Gas = Hiccup?

So I've been having this problem when I come to a stop, go on the brakes, then when I get back on the gas after releasing the brakes, the car seems to "hiccup." Reminds me of when I was just starting to drive a manual and didn't know how to release the clutch slowly for starting from a stop, except this A4 is an A/T so this shouldn't be happening! I don't want to say "surge" because I'm not sure if the rpms are affected in any way by this, or if they're the cause of this hitching.

As far as I know, my transmission hasn't been updated to its latest software (still sticks in 2nd gear sometimes) so that might be something I want to bring up when I drop the car off at the dealership, but has anyone else been having this problem too?

If you have S-tronic and you had had Tiptronic on previous car, or any AT with Hydrodynamic-torque-exchanger, you can feel this difference, maybe sw. update may help little, but S-tronic won't be never as smooth as Tiptronic gearbox.

Can you aproach the dealer and have them update your tranny software? THere is such thing? Because when I am breaking I feel the car let out of 2nd into 1st almost the second my wheels hit a dead stop and a feel the jerk.

I guess thats what it is the car does not down shift quick enough?

This appears to be pretty common w/the Tip. Some people claim that a TSB fixed it. Others say that the tranny adapted in time. I myself have almost 35K on the car and it still happens occasionally. I'll be bringing it into yet another dealer for maintenance (3rd one) because the previous 2 claim there was nothing wrong and no such TSB exists, which I know is wrong. Now harm in having your dealer check it out, especially if they're reasonable.

I only get this sometimes during the first 5-10 mins of start-up after sitting overnight. You release the break and the car kicks a bit. I noticed this only happens in sport mode.
After that, the car is good the rest of the day.

Search for my sprint booster review thread, maybe that will help you diagnose the problem....

I read in another thread that there was a transmission update a few months ago, but I'm not sure if it addressed this problem. I drive the car in Comfort all the time so that would rule out Sport mode being the cause. I'll be sure to ask for the update next time I bring it in.

Yea I get that too usually if I dont do a full stop. Also now I notice a vibration in the steering as I turn the wheel all the way.
