Gonna pull the trigger Next week need opinions on getting tires.

Ive looked at TOYO Proxes 4 there my number one choice but @ 135 a pop, they're cheaper tires out there like hankook which are 120 falken 115 and even cheaper with sumitomo 100 nexen 95 nankang 89 all of them All-season Tires. my budget is basically 125 a tire But i may just pull the trigger on the Toyos. im looking for some people to voice there opinion.

Check ebay, every once in a while you can find discount tires distributor selling sets of Falken 452's with free shipping. I think I picked up a set of four for under $500 or so. They are a great tire by the way.

Yep, I think Falken 452's are pretty good tires... We use em here in the NW. Our local shop Achtuning has them usually in stock.

go to tirerack and read the reviews + check out ratings in different weather conditions... ives had proxes before, i liked them, but wasnt what i was looking for in wet conditions.. they hydroplained a lot... falkens are okay, but my friend said they became too firm in winter time and felt like my summer performance tires in snow... You, living in jersey, should get these... dry/wet performance is insane... they never make a sound, even when u literaly go sideways on smooth pavement, not a squeek..... in rain they are magical.. my fwd barely ever spins out (with moderate acceleration) and in heavy rain u can easily do up to 80-85 without hydroplaning... by heavy i mean REAL heavy... the only downside is that i heard they are a bit on the louder side.. well mine are cause i got 265 in the back, but 235s are ok im sure... just my .02 ... i have these 2 sets in a row now, and as of right now if they wore out i'd get them again..

Yep, but I would say I don't like them when I had them. Great in the dry, but in the rain I didn't like them with FWD. I go Yoko's or Bridgestone's myself. If you find a good deal on Tirerack any Discount Tire I've worked at pricematches them and you get free mounting and balancing for life of the tire. ;)

Had proxes 4's on my a4 and they were great tires (they are on my wifes passat now).

Flaken's never lasted me very long and the traction wasn't spectacular.

Now I'm running Nitto555's and wow..... stickiest tire i've ever run, I just dont think they will last very long.

Pirelli is probably the worst tire I've ever had :(

Tires are not something to cheap out on. It doesn't matter how good your suspension is, or how good your brakes are. They can only perform as good as your tires can.

With that said iv gone through 5 sets of tires now and have found the the falken 452's are the best compromise between price and performance. And i drive quite spiritedly

what u mean cheap out ....cause there's a difference when u say something is Less expensive or something is Cheap. Just cause something is expensive doesn't make it a good deal nor a good product. I like the Falken 452s i also like Toyo tires. and im looking for a little bit more reviews on other tires cause i know Falkens and Toyos or BF Goodrich are NOT the only tires people have bought for there Audis

I currently have pilot sport as pluses. They handle well and have a good warranty but are pricey to begin with. They are also wearing on the shoulders which hasnt happened before, so i am having to replace them after 20k miles. It seems like my MPGs went down with these tires. Another thing, in quite a few spots the tread looks like it is peeling off. The guy at discount says they all do that. I was reluctant to get these tires in the first place because i did not want a directional tire, but i got them bc i got a really good deal on them. I will say that after 20k miles there is a lot of tread left, and that these could probably do another 20 if my alignment guy could figure out why he cant get my car aligned.

The last tires i had were kumho ASXs. Those were good but they only lasted 25 or 30k. Handled well in wet or dry. Didnt really have any complaints other than the pretty short life, but they were pretty cheap. Very comparable to the pirelli p6s that came on the car.

The first tires i had were P6s. These were ok but i didnt like the life. Really not any better than the ASXs and have a very similar tread pattern, but the price is a bit higher.

Im going back to an asymetrical tire. I dont really need the performance of a directional on this car, and i like being able to fully rotate them.

I need tires bad (General Exclaim w/45k on 'em) and am getting the Continental DWS within a week or so.

EDIT: You bastards! The 235/45/17 and 245/45/17 are backordered on Tirerack!

12/23/09 - My car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong. Don't think I'm ever going to sell it. Rather throw $7k into it for a refresh than buy a new A4 that has no dipstick.
    12/5/10 - 100k miles & counting!
    9/22/13 - 146k+ & running strong w/a new TB, water pump, etc.

As far as P6s go I got 43k out of them, but I hated how loud they were, couldn't keep them balanced.

The Falken 912's are a great bang for the buck A/S tire, were you looking to stay with A/S's or are you ok with summers?

I usually run falken ze912s on all my cars. I just ordered my set of 235/40r18 tires for my a4... just waiting for them to come in, I hate directional tires on heavier cars... way too loud for me when I can hear the tires over the stereo at highway speeds.

Just better check what is your local Discount tite is offering. They have $10 insurance per tire, which is awesome, cause my tire just got damaged and they replaced it.
