not getting enough power to headunit?

I have the metra 70-1787 in my b6 s4 sedan, and am in the process of connecting it to my Kenwood DDX-714 I have all of the cables hooked up, but my head unit doesn't power on, any ideas? I have all 3 power wires connected (red yellow and black) and when I turn the key nothing happens on the head unit except for a little flashing red light on the face next to the buttons.

Anybody have the same trouble as me?
anyone who wired their metra kit to a kenwood mind sharing which wires they connected/ pictures?

help is very much appreciated, this car has been kicking my ass lately

take a voltmeter and check the power is going to the correct wires.. You could have popped a fuse when disconnecting everything.

Maybe You have connected positive power wires backwards (red to units yellow and yellow to units red) or as ^^^^^ said - popped a fuse.

Sounds like you're not getting an ignition signal from your harness (red wire). Your harness should interpret the canbus signal and send power to the headunit...

You are not gonna get anywhere with just a harness from Metra. You need to run your own power. I've tapped into the windshield wiper fuse since they only work with ignition. I have Pioneer HU but it should not matter and you can choose anything else that powers on with key in ACC position. Your best bet would be to get something like Connects2 interface that knows how to read canbus.

alright thanks a lot, I got it wired differently but i still cant turn it on, I think it might be my ground location (a bolt that holds the radio support in) where's a good location to ground?

edit: oh and i used a voltmeter to confirm that I am getting 12 volts to the headunit.

so i finally got the head unit to turn on (Thank god :) It ended up being a combination of a poor ground and poor connection to the fuse.

Now however i cannot get my factory bose speakers to turn on,

I have the amp turn on wire connected and i checked with my voltmeter that it is getting power. any ideas?
