Because the strength of the sidewall also determines handling. The stiffer the better. Im guseesing you never whipped a turn with mushy sidewalls?

Read reviews on tirerack. Lots of tires have different stiffness in the sidewalls. I've got general exclaim uhp and they're great for me, but a little soft in the sidewalls

yeah I would x2 on the tire rack and also point ya to Doc from Tire rack who is active in this forum. He will most definitely point ya towards what you are looking for and answer any questions you may have.

Goto tech forums and under that the tire forum hosted by tire rack. They will be honest about tires since they sell most brands.

yeh read lots of reviews, falken 452's have soft sidewalls that's why everybody's uses those and a couple others to stretch. For the money Nitto NT 555's are great and the Invo's. Good handling, quiet and not mushy.

I run yokohama parada spec 2's. They have the stiffest sidewalls by far. Did you ever see a wheel shop try to take off a 225/35/19 yokohama? it's not a pretty sight

So then it's safe to say you never had stock wheels on your car, or that the first car you ever owned had 19" wheels w/performance tires? You have never drove anything other than 18"+ wheels with high performance tires? GTFO

i used to have an ML with the stock dunlop tires...those were as mushy as it gets. it might have been because i used to do donuts in the middle of the summer on dry pavemet. hey, it didnt flip which is always a good thing.
