    Ebay FMIC better than stock ic for gt28rs?

    I did a lot of searching on this topic and from what I have gathered the boost brothers fmic is decent up to k03 sized turbos. I was wondering what about a gt28rs. I know optimal would be one of the bigger more expensive fmic's but that is not an option right now and won't be while owning this car.

    The a4 is my daily, I have a track car that sucks up most of the mod funds. I am just trying to figure out if buying one of these cheap fmics will give me decent gains for the daily commute.

    what about RACE TECH or ASP FMIC? They should be sufficent, usually can find a cheap fmic in the classified section.

    I ran a Ebay core on my A4 with a GT2871r, it did fine and keep the intake temps down, could I have benefited from a better intercooler? Probably. But for $200 bucks the Ebay intercooler and piping kit worked just fine.
    I do work around the South East on your 1.8t or 2.7t, PM for more info

    with the price of those, he might as well get a larger garrett core. not only will it be larger, but it will be more effecient as well.

    OP, the Ebay coolers(larger ones) will "work" but they will not be optimal.

    Thanks for replies guys. I will have to start watching the classifieds for a used kit.

    My main question was is one of the eBay kits worth $300 or whatever they are vs. keeping the stock one with my setup.

    You can heatsoak the stock IC with the stock turbo, so with the GT28 you are going to need something better.

    If you have an Ultrasport, I wouldn't go any thicker than a 2" core. I just fit my Racetec intercooler this weekend and it BARELY fit between the rad and the bumper rebar. In fact it was touching....so i stuck some thin strips of rubber between the two so they don't rub.

    I think I'm gonna get the BB FMIC, sell the core and get a better core that fits the same dimensions. That's way there's no fab of any kind, just a direct swap. You could still have a Racetec, quality FMIC for under $500. Plus I could probably just sell the BB core in the classifieds for about $75-100.

    im in the process. i have a treadstone TR10 setting in the garage right now. but im not going to bother until i drop in rods and get the new turbo setup

    this is where everyone mis-interperetes. everyone does one gear pull or maybe two and they see they still have low IAT's. some will even do this in january

    but you do wide open spirited run through a canyon with multiple minutes in WOT and then tell me how your small shit-tastic core does for those IAT's in the July heat.
