anyone who has installed HID kit in fogs

ok so i bought the ddm 55w kit and installed it last weekend. the lights worked great for about 5 hours then i got a vehicle lighting malfunction on my screen. the lights still worked though. the next day i got in got the error and only one light worked. the next day the other light worked and the one that previously worked didn't, same error. the next day neither of them worked. I emailed ddm and they said i might need error code eliminators or perhaps an accessory wiring harness. i would think the eliminators would just get rid of the error but the lights should still work without them. If anyone has any experience with this i would greatly appreciate some help.

they recommended only 35watt in the fog lights since it creates too much heat in such a small area, maybe the excessive heat is messing with the lights.

Also, my 55watt ballasts dont always ignite the bulb. Ive already contacted ddm about replacement under warranty.

maybe but the housing never got hot enough even after a few hours of driving. plus the bulbs are still in good condition. im thinking like you said its the ballasts.

yea its probably the ballasts, sometimes i have to flick them on and off a couple times before the both light up. Other people have had the same problems with ddm tunings 55watt ballasts..

Hopefully the ones they replace mine with don't have the same problems.

just got this response from ddm,

"DRLs are incompatible with HIDs b/c they restrict the power going to the ballast by about 50%. Often, there is a fuse dedicated to the DRLs and removing that fuse will allow the HIDs to function normally. Sometimes disabling the DRLs is more involved and requires assistance from a mechanic."

ive seen b8 a4's with DRL's and HID's in their fogs running same time, i don't understand.

I had the same problem when I put my DDM kit in, I had the light out come on the dash and they would flicker after a couple mins of running but after I got the code eliminators the problem went away. One of my ballast went bad this past week, sending it out for warranty, I’m not sure if this could be a problem with the ballasts and our cars or I just got UN lucky. I also know what you mean by having to turn your lights on and off a couple of times before the bulbs power up. I put the same kit in my girlfriends 07 civic and that happens to her every once in awhile, I recommend getting a relay so you aren’t draining power from the stock wiring and going straight to the battery, it solved the problem in her fogs lights.
