From what I've read, APR. You can switch programs by pushing/holding buttons on the cruise control.
IIRC, for GIAC you need a "flashloader" box that you have to connect to the ODB port, and then punch a button or two to switch programs.

I have the APR program, and it is very easy to switch between programs. Turn off engine, turn on electronics (uhm A/C turns on but not engine, not quite sure what this is called) use the cruise control stalk to select between Stock, 91, 93, 100 octane files, turn car off, and voila- you're done. It takes less than a minute to switch and re-enable the security lock-out.

And with the GIAC you do need a flash-loader, I don't know how long it takes, but it's more convenient with APR's cruise control system to switch between programming.

Second footnote - only APR has a stage II so far. I hear unitronic is close/on beta, but not a peep from GIAC. I have GIAC, but can't wait to get APR over it so I dont have to use an additional $175 flashloader to do what APR does for free.

I've got an A4 Avant on order; the idea of chipping (flashing) it is tempting, but the warranty issues worry me.

A concern with the APR flash, even with its "stealth" capabilities, is that a savvy service manager just needs to press the appropriate button on the cruise control and see if the relevant lamp starts flashing (if i understand correctly how the APR is set up). At that point you're busted, whether or not the Audi VAG tool sees a "foreign" flash.

So the security lock out 100% eliminate anything the dealer may see?? Doesn't matter what they may scan it with?

Yes, I tried to switch mine the other day forgetting that it was in lock-out mode and nothing flashed when holding the set button per the instructions. The I realized that I needed to input my security code.
As far as the scan question, maybe the APR guys can chime in I am not sure.
