the width has nothing to do with the height. So 255 will fit in 18s as well. The width of the rim can be limiting though. et37, but how wide is this rim?

we don't recommend anything bigger than 245/35-18, but there are plenty of guys that have run the 255 with a fender lip roll.....

I don't know if you'd really want to put a 255 on an 8" wide wheel. Might look bloated.

Very true i guess i just got quickly obsessed with the idea of wide meats, plus with AWD how much of a contact patch is really needed...

Well, I'm all for that wide, meaty stance look and unless it's a track rat I don't know if it's gonna hurt, but with that narrow of a wheel it just won't look right or do you any good performance wise.

Didn't see this before, that's really just not true. I know this is extreme but, I'm sure I could fit a wider tire in a 16 than in a 19... I'm not sure exactly what your getting at but as the wheel gets closer to the fender it's not gonna fit in as wide of a tire as it would with a smaller (diameter) wheel. I'm sure at some point it's going to hit control arms so your screwed regardless but I feel like a 255/40/16 would fit easier than a 255/40/18. I'm sure it's still doable with maybe a spacer and a roll/pull but not as easy as a 16 or 17.

The design of the rear spindle on the B5 models reduces the possible width of the tire as the tire increases in height....i.e. a wider tire could be used with a 16 than with an 18.
