Hey guys, where's the best place to get some brakes? I'm not looking for anything fancy like the new Porshe Cayenne or a BBK. I'm thinking just OEM rotors with some Hawks. So far, it seems like MJM Autohaus https://www.mjmautohaus.com/ has the best pricing. Anyone knows any good sites or places (norcal) for brakes?? Please no Ebay stuff, I've seen complete set for 4 drilled/slotted rotors and pads for like $230....junk...TIA

i've had nothing but horrific experiences with mjm...

personally, i'll never buy from them again...and if you talk to 99% of the people on vw vortex they will agree...
i dunno maybe its just cause i'm from canada but when you place an order do you usually have to wait 2 months to recieve it?

all over the vortex there were threads "does anybody else have this problem with mjm??"

people would sometimes call in to inquire about they're orders and get hung up on or be given attitude..

I'm actually amazed they are still in business to be quite honest with you...thats how poor their customer service is

I don't know who you are dealing with, but my dealings with Mark@MJM (his AZ screen name) have been nothing but professional. He got me a full set of HP+ pads for a smoking price, and they were in my hands within 3-4 days. I think most custiomer service benefits from having a single point of contact within a company, obviously ymmv.

To the OP, I went with mjm for Hawk HP+ pads (PM Mark@MJM), and a set of Adam's slotted rotors. Everything came in nice and fast, and looks like top notch stuff. I haven't had a complaint about anything once I got the HP+ good and bedded in.

    Two things
    1. I recently ordered dba 4000 disks, ss lines, and hawk pads from tire track and it wasnt priced too bad.

    2. I have ordered coilovers and a rear sway from mjm and the customer service was awesome. I didn't receive the wrench to adjust the coilovers in the original shipment and when I called to ask about this they overnighted them to me. Cant ask for better service than that.

Thanks for all the input guys, but I cant seem to find the 'Adams' slotted rotors...I was going with the package that include Zimmerman slotted front rotors and Hawks pads, then OEM rotors in the rear and with Hawk pads

I would just get some plain zimmerman rotors, they are OEM for BMW so you know the quality is good and the price is fair.

    Now THATS... good customer service...

FYI when i dealt with mjm it was jaun i dealt with...

here's the full scoop on what happened to me..

I placed an order worth about 1500 for my vr6 jetta.. the parts included a stage 2 spec clutch, 7lb autotech flywheel, some oem sensors, a techtonics downpipe...whatever
I recieved the automated email saying my order is being processed, and less than 48 hrs later...the lump of cash was pulled from my account.. So I patiently waited for my order to be "In transit", and i waited for well over a week... So i Emailed and they said yes...your order is sitting here and it will be shipped out today... So then my order status on their website said "in transit"...
    So i thought 'wicked'..parts are coming...3 weeks passed...still no parts..so I called again...and fucking lost it...

now keep in mind my car was sitting at the shop awaiting these parts as i was having the timing chains redone at the time...and i made it very clear...that i needed them shipped as fast as possible because of this reason...and even payed the extra hundred bucks or so to have the fastest shipping..

so anyways, when i called and freaked out... they then continued to tell me it seems my order has yet to be shipped out...because the spec clutch was not in stock and the boys at spec were on holidays... I ALMOST fell for that one...untill i decided to email spec, and ask them if they were on holidays and if they had any back orders from mjm autohaus..they replied to my email within an hour and said no we are diligently working here at the shop, and have not recieved any orders from mjm within the past couple months..

so i called back mjm and confronted them...asked them to ship my products out immediately or else cancel my order... over a month had passed by this time since the day i placed my order.. they said yes it is being shipped out today... this was the thursday or friday before waterfest or h20...cant remember... so i awaited my tracking number....nothing came to me...they had gone on holidays and were out of the shop for the week for the car show..

when all was said and done it took approximately 2 months for me to recieve my products...

    thats my mjm horror story

You know, it's kinda strange how our society works and how as a business, we're expected to act a certain way or "carry ourselves" in a certain manner, otherwise we're labeled as "unprofessional" or "no good" or whatever rhetoric you want to label that theory with. You sit here as a business (or rather a fella who sells parts for a living, I should say) and read Dubluv (Demetri from Toronto) and his wild stories and wonder "Okay, I have proof that this character is lying, but how can I present this without making him look silly or look like you're attacking him? Is that even possible? Should I post it and risk embarrassing him, be as nice as possible (yet still call him out), or just post up what you need, what you have, and let the rest fall where it may?" Well, I don't think there is anything other way to just come out and a call a guy a "liar', but here it is, Demetri. If you're going to get on a public forum and trash us and ridicule us, you best have some facts to back this up, because we do and here they go.

I'm entering this post into our Top 10 most ridiculous posts of all time. The number of flat-out blatant lies are overwhelming. Where to begin...

First of all, no customer in the history of MJM Autohaus has ever waited two months for an order unless it was a Special Order item and they were absolutely, positively aware of the duration at which their item was to arrive and were 100% okay with waiting. You're saying you waited two months to have an order at your door from the time you placed your order due to us not shipping it out and not due to any reason on the part of U.S. Customs? Two months, Mr. Makris? Tell ya what - you post up your original order with the date it was ordered and delivered, I'll post up your entire order history, our email transcripts, your tracking info, and your Delivery Confirmation and if it took your order two months to get there without anything I just mentioned above (i.e. due to Customs), I will refund your entire order plus 10%. Deal? Also, nobody has ever called here and inquired about their order and gotten hung up on. Where do these stories come from?

    thats my mjm horror story
First of all, your timeline of the multiple orders you've placed with MJM Autohaus (from 6/08 to 6/09) are all over the map. The first order you placed with us (that you *somewhat* mention partially accurately above) was placed on 6/23/2008 and was for a clutch, a flywheel, wheel bearings, a seal, and side markers (no downpipe) as seen HERE! Going back through emails between Customer Service and yourself, it appears the SPEC Clutch was somehow missing from your order, correct? As seen in the link provided, it was then shipped out with UPS (in an effort for you to receive it quicker). UPS tracking number shows that it was there in 5-6 business days (I can post that, too, if you'd like), so I'm a bit confused as to where the "two months" is coming in. Where are you getting two months? "Two months" is a full 60 days here in the states, Demetri. You also darn well know that you did not have someone at SPEC tell you that we hadn't placed an order with them in two months. Jeremy, our Account Rep, happens to have an account here on AZ and can certainly post up that this was never told to you, nor has MJM Autohaus ever gone two months without ordering a clutch from *anyone*, much less SPEC Clutch. In fact, I don't think more than a few days have gone by without us buying SPEC products, so again, I'm curious as to where and why you're getting all this foolish information from (including the part about the holidays). Fact is, SPEC only goes on holiday leave during one part of the year - Christmas and New Year's - that's it - but you were correct in that the rest of your order shipped right before the day that our entire staff left for Waterfest in New Jersey (something you knew because your emails back and forth to us, which was not with near the tone you have here, mention this and you led us to believe you were understanding of this, as it was clearly posted on the front page of our site so customers were aware of our availability). As you know, your order was during June - not during the holidays. And yet even more stretching of the truth is that you called a month after your order?!?!? Are you not seeing that your order actually *SHIPPED* far before a "month" even went by? And you paid "an extra hundred bucks to have the fastest shipping", huh? Interesting, because as seen on your order, you paid $79.70 for USPS Priority Shipping (which is nothing more than Ground). Click on the link yourself. Now, if your initial shipment was shipped without the SPEC Clutch on an error on our part due to a knucklehead in our warehouse, then we have no excuses for that and an apology is owed to you - but please don't get on a public forum and make a mountain out of a molehill with your excessive exaggerations (that I've clearly proven with postings of screen shots of your order) and fabrications of facts in the matter. It's obvious your order wasn't exactly processed in the length of time our orders typically are, and we apologize for that, but refrain from the stretching of truth and exaggerating of the facts of your order.

Now, on to your second order that was placed on 6/26/09 as seen HERE, this order did indeed have a downpipe on it, and yes, this order was paid with $100 shipping charges to Canada, albeit again, with USPS Priority (not Expedited).

Let's be honest here and call a spade a spade. I'm also curious as to how you supposedly had a such a bad experience with us, then obviously placed two more orders with us, including inquiring yet again *after* your third order with us asking us about our Customer Repeat Specials on Hawk Brake Pads. Was your experience that bad? According you, obviously not. Regardless, if Juan or Charles dropped the ball back then with your SPEC Clutch, then we apologize, but post all the facts - don't make them up in an effort to stretch the truth. I can prove everything I've posted here to be 100% accurate and true.

We can do the same since we are a master warehouse distributor as well, we also sell many performance products we make in house ;)

Oh and if we have the pads in stock(which we normally do) we ship same day, but this is for most of our products as well...

I Wish i still had my emails and it would be nice if i had recorded my calls just to prove what poor customer service you guys really do have. There WERE multiple threads on the vortex saying what a bullshit business you people run and that even though four seasons tuning is slightly more expensive that they would much prefer to order from them because their customer service is far superior.

However, I no longer own my jetta so i rarely visit the vortex anymore much less search for anything involving your company. You straight up lied to me... You guys said my order was in transit within a week of the order...which i was fine with...and it didn't show up for LONG after...maybe not 2 months but pretty damn close...and i haven't visited your website since the time i got rid of my jetta, so i don't even know if that link with my order info is correct or if you guys changed it to make yourselves look good. It was a long time ago that the order was placed and perhaps my memory is a little off, but i believe i spoke with someone named either charles or kelly? and when i told them my issue they were extremely apologetic and an overall good experience to deal with them...

If you're calling me a liar about you guys telling me that spec was on holidays and this is the reason you guys don't have the clutch in stock...then you guys are fucking retarded. Where would i come up with something like that? why would i have any reason to lie about my experience with you guys? since my order of the clutch and flywheel, i did order more products from you guys because i was not rushed and didn't care how long it would take to show up because my car was not in the shop being worked on... the order regarding the clutch was REALLY want i could go speak with the shop and pull up my history of when the car arrived and when it left... i ordered the parts a week before i took the car to the shop expecting them to be there within the time you guys SAID it would be....and it sat there for well over a month... when the parts were received at my door...the car left the shop the next day...

go ahead and enter this post wherever you please...I wont ever order from you again...i have no reason to do so... I am sure you guys have made good ties and done good business with many people... but when someone has a complaint you guys treat the customer as though they are wrong.

I recently placed an order with jhm, and they specifically told me the next day that their product was not in stock but it will be shipped as soon as it becomes available... This i am okay with, they did not lie to me and tell me that the manufacturer was on fucking holidays, (which in fact they were not) and that it is THEIR fault that i don't have my products. JHM is a great bunch to deal with, As is 034, I also recently ordered a set of downpipes from isaam and have had nothing but a good experience speaking with him, I asked how long it would take to be shipped and he told me that they are still in production so it may take some time... I have zero problem waiting for something to be sent to me, as long as i am notified before the money is taken from my credit card. Same with The Jerbel, VAST's Canadian distributor, I am in the process of placing an order with him and he has been nothing but helpful and respectful to my questions and concerns about what i am buying from him.

I remember you guys took the money from my credit card, and i bet if i didn't call to hassle you guys multiple times you would have taken even longer to get off your fucking lazy asses and tend to my order. And yes i WAS hung up on, and I'm damn well not the only person who this has happened to. I will do some digging and see if i can find the old threads from the vortex. The Only good thing i have to say about MJM is their prices are very reasonable and in most cases are lower than everyone else..

Customer service is a big FAIL..

Oh really? was i "murdered with the truth"? Heh...if you don't know what you're talking about...don't fucking put your 2 cents in...thanks
truth is...maybe those dates in the links they posted are correct...perhaps i was a little off on the dates which i gave but even still, the products did take well over a month to make it to my door... when if i am not mistaken...now this was 2 years ago almost so bear with me here... at the time i purchased these items, i DO believe that on the advertisements for all of the products, there was a phrase stating "this product is in stock and ready to be shipped within 2-3 business days" now i could be wrong on that... but i am almost 99% positive of this... so i gave it about a week, then sent my car in to get torn apart...figured it would be okay to have the car sit there for a few days while we waited for parts... but it ended up being ABOUT a month... and i was charged daily after it sat there for 2 weeks..

now...explain to me...why in that link the rep from mjm showed... my date of purchase was the 23rd of June... it took 4 days for the order to be "processed"... and if you read there...it says "your order is in transit to you" at this date... this was on the 27th so i waited and waited... eventually decided to call just to check up... and to make a correction... i was put on hold for about 5 mins, by juan i believe... and THEN hung up on...i believe our conversation went a little something like this...

"hello i am calling to inquire about an order i placed about a week or so ago and just wanna see if it has been shipped yet"

so they checked into my account and said "yes it looks like it has been shipped out yesterday actually let me just double check that for you"
it was at this point i was put on hold...and then was hung up on after about 5 mins like i said...

I then proceeded to call back and i believe i spoke to maybe kelly or charles..not exactly sure on which one.. it was at this point when i got angry and started bitching at the person on the other line... I'm sure you would all be somewhat annoyed... being on hold for ANY amount of time sucks really.. and then to be hung up on? i mean come on... weather it was intentional or not i am unsure of.. it very well could have been a mistake.. nonetheless when i called back the person on the other line certainly got an earful.

I told them i was very pissed and that i want something to be done about my order immediately, as they had taken the money out about a week(maybe more) prior to this date.. and i would like my product shipped to me within the 7-10 days that they advertised..

they then proceeded to tell me "actually sir your order hasn't been shipped out, it looks like the spec clutch is not here in your package, and i don't believe we have it in stock either" so i replied "well don't you think it would have been a fucking good idea to have told me sooner that it was not in stock" and they apologized and said yes we know we should have told you but I'm sorry it seems the boys at spec are on holidays/vacation at the moment and it could be some time before your product is shipped"

it then took them another 2 weeks...to ship my order out...and it did not come within 7-10 business days(not their fault)

if you guys admittedly tell me now that spec was NOT in fact on holidays...and it said on your website that the clutch was in stock and ready to ship...what the fuck took 3 weeks to get my products out of your door?

I am not here to lie to anybody... what would i get out of lying about my experience with mjm??? why would i have nothing bad to say about the jerbel from vast, or isaam at 034, or Dan at jhm?? whom i have placed orders with ALL of them within the past month... i HOPE mjm has improved their customer service...it seems by the others who have posted in this thread...that they have had good experiences with them, and i applaud mjm for their efforts. but i will not be called a liar for i have absolutely no reason to lie.. as a matter of fact...i DID order another 2 orders from them, simply because i did not care how long they took to make it to my door as i was in no rush, they do have the cheapest prices, and that's all i really cared about at the time... and those other 2 orders were shipped out quite promptly if i recall correctly. within 10 days or so i believe... but if you ask me...my first order...3 weeks?? is that not a little unreasonable? especially to be lied to on top of that??

That's the thing, I am not siding with MJM because they are a sponsor, I am siding with them because I have had nothing but positive professional dealings with them. I am not one to hold my tongue (especially over the intertoobs ) when I have a problem with a business. Just my $0.02...

in the beginning i was honestly trying to warn people of my experience... if you have had good experiences with them then that's great.. really I'm glad for you...but it bothers me that people are calling me a liar and defending them... instead of listening and taking this as a precautionary before you order with them...and hopefully realize what you MAY be up against if you do happen to run into a problem...and i have had a couple people pm me because they don't want to publicly embarrass mjm...and i agree that this IS an uphill battle for me...but really i don't care...i have nothing to lose really...they on the other hand DO...as long as i have at least one person agree with me...which i do...then my job here is done and i have no argument left to give.

they can say what they may to make themselves look professional and like a good company.. you guys may believe what you wish... but I know the truth, and i will not be placing another order with them...thats all i have to say

2x. I can't PM my dealer (actually I don't even have one anymore). Plus people only go to the BBB when they have a problem, kind of a bias source of info.
    My WTB List:
-Sport (all black) shift surround for 6MT
-Sport (all black) ash tray cover
